I still think back to the days when we thought the Klingon D7 ship was always shown on screen and not as we found out later just a pulsating blob on the screen at the edge of the screen! Thank the stars for Elaan of Troyius and the first real appearance of the Klingon ship! :klingon:

Considering the whole reason that they used the Klingon ship model in Romulan episodes was the fact that the one Klingon ship they had cost a lot of production money, so they wanted that model to see as much screen time as possible.

I understood AMT provided them with the D7 miniature in exchange for the licensing rights, similar to what they did with the shuttlecraft. If so then the D7 miniature possibly didn’t cost TOS anything.

They may have given them a discount in some way, but I doubt they did a completely free job. Remember that at the time Star Trek was not a top tier Network show ratings wise.

Yet the AMT Enterprise model sold like hotcakes.

Yeah, the way I always heard the story was that AMT was begging for another Star Trek kit to do.

My biggest gripe wasn’t the droop…you could lean the saucer back…it was the front of the B/C deck being flat.

The weird shape of the B/C deck always bugged me.

You didn't include the famous Tim Russ SPACEBALLS scene?...

Only because I was limited to 4 clips and that 4K release review impressed the heck out of me. Looking back, swapping the "how soon is now" bit with the wonderfulness of Tim Russ -- the movie's loaded with too many awesome gags...

    Also,

Another cool video. Gives you just a taste of what TOS-R could have looked like.

I wonder why they called it the 24" Galileo? Most think it was 22"...

Typo? Or they just went with what Kirk said in “The Galileo Seven.”

Warpeded9 is indeed correct, AMT did them (there were 2 D-7's) free for the licensing rights.

Great collection of shots. Watching it reminded me - what on earth is being reflected in those shots in Balance Of Terror?

Could it be folds of bluescreen cloth which is being being picked up by the flash?
