Babylon 5

JMS posted an update on the B5 reimagining...

Nothing really new, but it's not dead.
IDK, he basically says he hasn't got a call yet, but that doesn't mean the call won't come some years in the future.

Sorry but to me that's pretty dead. Hell there are shows currently inactive development that may not make it to the screen when all is said and done, so to say no one is called is pretty much the same thing as, it's dead.

Like he said, it's a schrodinger's show situation. It's not exactly dead, it's not exactly alive. It's awaiting a decision.

But I've been on this little merry-go-round too many times over the years to waste undue thought on it. It'll happen when it happens, or it won't.
And meanwhile, we know that we'll already be getting a B5 project with the remaining cast that's already completed and will be unveiled at SDCC this year. I'm looking forward to being there.

Eh. I mean I'm curious, but I'll hold off thinking about it too much until there more solid information to build an opinion on. Like I said; it's a ride I've been on too many times already.

I agree. Besides, I'm not exactly chomping at the bits for this, despite being a diehard "Babylon 5" fan.

JMS posted a little bit of an update earlier on Patreon in regards to the B5 reboot. He heard from the studio, but did not get a yes or no yet. He did get an explanation why it's taking so long to get an answer and what has been happening behind the scenes. In relation to that answer, JMS got some info "that is significant and extremely encouraging". They have another pow wow in 2 weeks. JMS also shared a few more positive words.

Normally I'm meh in regards to new B5 news, but I think this is going to happen. Fingers crossed...

Based on that and the other news, my guess would be that the sum of it is "the CW is no longer a distribution option, but we may have another place we can put this show." I just saw in the news that Warner/Discovery is planning to start a new streaming service (because there's something wrong with the ones they have, apparently), that could be something, or possibly they could be considering Babylon 5 2.0 for HBO.

Oh yay. Another streaming service. :ack:

The new streaming service is the merger of HBOMax and Discovery +.

But are they gonna really want to invest a lot of money on it other than House of the Dragon?

We will see....

Agreed. Morever, it continues to be even 'deader' each day. JMS is 68. There's gonna be a point in which he can't actively do this. I admire his passion and commitment to his creation. Even if he were able to start it there will be a point in which he won't be able to continue and at that point the suits take over.

Considering how relatively poorly old franchises have been revisited, I think fans should just be happy with the B5 we have....which was quite fantastic.

There is nothing in the FAQ which states you cannot discuss what is written in public, unless I missed it. Please share if there is.
I'm afraid you've lost me. The FAQ that I'm aware of is an open post, readable by anybody covering many overly-rehashed questions on all of social media and has nothing to do with Patreon except for being posted there. The post you're discussing was *not* an open post and only readable by Patrons. As such, it's not to be shared. You're welcome to ask JMS yourself. I somewhat doubt he's hanging out here but I've seen him ban others for sharing Patron-only info on other sites. But since you asked: https://www.patreon.com/posts/privacy-60585046

Thanks for posting. He shouldn't have it hidden away and should state that openly when you subscribe instead of leaving up to the individual to dig the post up after the fact. But, whatever. I'll still share since I never signed an NDA of any sort and I'm not sharing verbatim, only the gist of it.
