I really enjoyed "Avatar: The Way of Water, the world was explored more than what I expected and I like the characters, especially the new ones, which broaden the scope of the movie. Could a Star Trek movie embrace a similar theme of exploration instead of another James Bond super villain-type who's aim is to reach Ricardo Montalban status?

I’m going to check Avatar out tomorrow I think. It’s hard to find 3 hours to go see it…!

Please do, I wonder if you think Trek could explore a world that is literally STRANGE to human comprehension?

As so much of Trek is explaining/criticizing/lauding philosophical opinions and strategic choices we made, in alien allegory, the emphasis is usually on creating a foreign world that still parallels aspects of ours.

I can see them saying that in a pitch meeting and then it ends up Pandora from Avatar again.
Ugh. Do you remember when the producers of Star Trek actually wanted to be influential and attempt to tell stories which were bold and fun at the same time? A movie should not be an extension of the show but something in which they couldn't produce on the show. There's so many unknowns they could try to explore and be interesting like Dark Matter, M-Class planets without a sun; there's more I think which could be explored.

Kelvin storyline, they're out in deep space with no Federation around, some Gravity/The Martian/Interstellar storyline, families on the Enterprise-A. Spock/Uhura have a kid. Would it be weird if they had a kid called Pavel? Or a daughter called Amanda? Something about anomalies, weird chaotic space. Working with another group of alien explorers to unlock some mystery and there is conflict but no violence between the two groups. They don't fire a single phaser or photon torpedo.
Or just get the Kelvin crew together and put them in a space bar for two hours.
Or John Cho's Captain Sulu adventures.

sigh....Can they still afford Zoe Saldana, she recently made history as the only actor to have 4 (2 billion dollar films). she had a streaming show on netflix that got better ratings than all the streaming star trek shows

Quinto is hot stuff on Broadway

Kalr Urban just had the top rated comic book show of the year with The Boys

Pine is doing okay as a movie star.

I want all of them back but it looks as if they just get bigger and bigger everyday for paramount to pay.

I will like to see the actors take a pay cut and make a 4th film as long as they want jj abrams back and maybe use more of a Dune approach to the 4th film

1) that Tarantino rumor come true

2) idk if Alicia Eve's still hot (been years since Darkness) but yay underwear shot

1+2 = Alicia's feet

@USS Artorius
Good so far
I wouldn't go so far as Eject the Core, maybe a warp coil shattering/imploding and taking out a nacelle. That still leaves them with 1 nacelle, maybe they can fix the other to a point. Give them a chance to "Come save the day" if needed. Ejecting the Core there kinda SOL till a tug comes by.

As for recycling the Genisis storyline, try to make it as different as you can and not a re tread if possible. Also, Cestus 3 was close to Gorn territory, like in Arena, so if you want Klingons, go with another planet, maybe Khitomer, or Narendra 3 :)

Yeah, I would say something like Sherman's Planet, Capella or Organia, if you want some known worlds.

Seems unlikely at this point that it will ever happen, but OK.

This is less OK. Don't objectify people.

And just skip this altogether.

And this... no. Don't do that again -- not anywhere on the board.

The entire cast all still look good. Zoe Saldana has been doing lots of promo for avatar 2 and i cant believe she is now in her mids 40s. she looks amazing, so does Alice Eve, she was recently hanging around with Quinto in london and they look great.

Karl Urban to me has not aged since he was in lord of the rings that was 22 years ago.

To be honest be the person who seems to have age a bit is Chris Pine.

Be that as it may, i still think they all look good enough to make a finale send of movie like Avengers Endgame or X-MEN Days of future past where they brought the old actors back from the first series.

I wont say the kevlin cast are now in their old man Logan or old Man Luke Skywalker phase, this is how young I still think they all look.

Also The thing is this Kelvin cast are still the current and most modern face of star trek. the streaming shows are very super niche that i am certain paramount will still push for a 4th film if the cast will agree to a pay cut than trying to push for a streaming show like section 31.

Hi all, I deleted my previous posts as I was essentially thinking aloud and boxed myself story wise, so I think it's best I change my approach and come at ST4 from a more analytical and overarching perspective. Just a quick timeline to start:

2233 - George kirk killed, kelvin. James T Kirk is born.
2255 - Kirk meets Captain Pike, applies to starfleet academy. Uhura is present.
2258 - Events of ST 2009
2259 - Events of ST Into Darkness
2260 - Enterprise is repaired and relaunched on a 5 year mission
2263 - Events of ST Beyond, New Enterprise A is built. "continuing mission"
(is the Enterprise A resuming the 5 year mission with 2 years remaining, or is it on a completely new mission briefing?)
The context of the end of Beyond leaves the possibility open for the Enterprise to be doing whatever mission ST Command wants it to do.

The ship in ST4 would likely be the same as what we saw at the end of Beyond, unless the producers saw fit to redesign the pylons and nacelles to push it more to resemble the prime timeline Enterprise A.

ST 4 could be set anytime after Beyond, however with the inevitable aging of the cast I suspect that it will be in between 2265 and 2270. This falls right in line with the 5 year mission of the Prime Timeline Enterprise NCC 1701 as we see in TOS. ST 4 will likely be a self-contained finale to the abramsverse Star Trek continuity.

ST ID and ST Beyond both feature the ship being near or totally destroyed crash landing towards and into a planet. ST 4 will have to do something different to raise the stakes... how about a good ol' threat to planet Earth which would harkon back to Nero and ST 2009. It would also be exciting to see a fleet of Kelvinverse Starfleet ships superior to what we saw in 09 and leaving the nonsensical USS Vengeance as a tragic historical footnote. After all who wants to see a ship design defending earth that previously kamakazied San Francisco? (and assumingly killed multiple thousands of civilians in the process) :wah:

There is the fact that Kirk almost took a placement as an admiral at the beginning of Beyond, but by the end of the film his perseverance and victory over Krall has clearly reinvigorated him and he is plenty happy to carry on in the captains chair. Imo Pine is 42 and the hypothetical ST 4 wouldn't be released until at least 2025 if they started filming this year, so that would make him 44 or 45 at least. But I still don't think he is quite old enough that the admiral title works for me, maybe I could see it if he were closing on 50 like shatner was in TMP. Speaking of TMP though, it would be satisfying to see Abrams Kirk as a more mature and cultured individual by the time of ST 4 with a more disciplined energy about him (although this is Kirk we are talking about and every once in a while he will have to be funny or do something stupid for the sake of the audience). Any thoughts on how Captain Kirk could break trust with his crew mates or have them otherwise shaken by his views or actions? His character Arc in ID was from selfish to selfless, and in Beyond his confidence in himself grows as he is put through his paces to save his crew once again. Perhaps it could be a question of family, a conflict of interest between him and Starfleet Command, or the Possibility of War? Speculate people!!
Oh and thoughts on time travel, George Kirk reappearance and character arcs for bridge crew.
I still like the idea of more development and backstory for McCoy and Sulu saving the day to get command of a new Starship and Kirk and him could have a little competetive banter while the two ships venture off into the distance, mirroring ST VI. Thanks everyone BTW, I have lurked on this forum since 2012 and have finally taken the time to make an account and begin my journey! LLAP
