Whereas last night I finally completed Picard season 1. My initial one sentence take is that it could have accomplished 90% of what it was trying to do while also taking out 90% of the stuff that would massively set off a critical mass of the fanbase. When Michael Chabon was quoted as saying he knew he'd push fans' buttons, I'd assumed it would be some progressive activist political thing that was too on the nose, but, no, it was fridging characters left and right!
