Predict denial or avoidance of being called out about that.

The problem with your theory is that A2 could be a hit, but the character is a part of a now-dead film universe (or will be after A2 is released, based on the way Gunn explained the order of the four films). All anyone knows about this version of Aquaman is tied to the MoS continuity--he is as much a part of that continuity / universe as Gadot's WW or Affleck's Batman, and with Gunn being clear that he's starting a new universe, I doubt the MoS continuity Aquaman will just be dragged over.

The Gunn films are recasting everyone, and that should apply to Aquaman. That, and Momoa has not been silent about wanting to take on the Lobo role--which would be a part of the Gunn-verse, so that pretty much brings an end to his Aquaman.

The first instinct is to believe WB would wash their hands of Miller after the release of the Flash movie, but Gunn has been going on and on about the film to the degree that I would not be shocked if Gunn (with Zaslav's approval, of course) dropped Miller into the Gunn-verse.

A bigger problem is that Batgirl has never been the headliner DC wanted her to be; at no point in the character's 56-year history has she been a major magnet for readers (as in becoming the A-lister on the level of The Big Three), no matter how well some stories were written, or the critical nods received, so the idea of a Batgirl movie drawing so much interest as to attract a notable number of new subscribers a dubious notion at best.

Every superhero film does not need to be a billion dollar movie to succeed. Even the Donner Superman film--with star names, star talent behind the camera with one of the most swollen budgets up to that time, was a hit, but did not become the biggest film of all time--or of its release year, earning $300.5 million (worldwide) yet the musical / romantic comedy--Grease--outperformed it with $366.2 million.

    Messy? How so?

Superman (1978) was the second highest grossing film of the year and Warner Bros. top grossing film at that time. But more important than those stats is that it made a cultural impact and connected strongly with audiences.

So much of the new DCU is riding on Superman---if the new Man of Steel doesn't connect with today's audience in a way that Snyder's version was unable to deliver, then it's going to be a bumpy road for the rest of Gunn's tenure.

I thought we were getting a full reset but that silly Peacemaker show is getting a second season. How does that make sense?
At least we are getting something with the GLs.

Interestingly, according to the money it actually made in the year 1978, by December 31 of that year it ranked much lower:

I don't see how this is true.

Pretty much every project that's been announced can stand on its own should Superman: Legacy fail.

It's how DC universe resets tend to work in the comics. History is rewritten to change many things, while other things (typically in the best-selling series) stay largely unchanged.

IIRC, Damian was a pre-teen when introduced. As was Dick when he became Robin. So depending on when Damian was conceived, Batman might be a decade into his career.

So all the bad stuff stays behind after Flashpoint? Typical. :)

I just assumed this will be just another Earth; with its own Wells and everything.

It might actually work better since Peacemaker exists in a world closer to the comic version with tons of superheroes, villains, and goofy shit like Batmite. Have a throwaway line about history being changed and that it happens all the time but people rarely remember it except for weird things like the titles of children's books and Sinbad movies.

Have people not seen Gunn's announcement video? He told us, the Flash movie would reset the universe, SHAZAM was in its own little part of the DCU before and could easily carry over, and Blue Beetle and Aquaman 2 are after the reset.

With this information, it's entirely possible that both The Suicide Squad and Peacemaker are retroactively part of the new universe.

They could also go the Batman Begins route and have Bruce involved with Ra's al Ghul (and, in this version, Talia) before he became Batman. That, coupled with Damian's (almost misspelled his name again) could have Batman still in his late twenties in the new movie.

I expect something more like Crisis on Infinite Earths (both comics and TV versions), where many pre-Crisis stories were still assumed to have happened, just in slightly different ways.

Months ago, there was some chatter about Gadot's appearing in the Shazam sequel, and it turned out to be solid chatter. At last, something to look forward to in that film.
