Star Trek: Starships Model/Magazine Subscription

Ok, so I've been digging around the internet. It appears that Corgi is no longer associated with Master Replicas, that brand is apparently owned by a third party who also works for Heathside, but it's unclear if Heathside is involved or if those connections were used to obtain the Eaglemoss stock. According to recent tweets by Robinson, they're reviving the brand to sell old Eaglemoss stock, they're not doing anything new. (Presumably this is what Corgi is doing.) Probably worth mentioning that a couple of years ago Master Replicas also crowdfunded $650,000 for a HAL9000 prop and then pulled an Anovos and declared bankruptcy, so "buyer beware", I guess.

The Master Replicas website currently shows a countdown... that's counting up.

Meanwhile, Real Merch claim they're the "official distributor" of Star Trek stock from the Eaglemoss warehouses and aim to make some previously unreleased ships available in the future, but Ben Robinson disagrees.

Well, in fairness, it does say "Real Merch aim to make...". This means it's their intention to do so, but it gives them some legal wiggle room if it doesn't come to fruition. They're probably seeking a license as a part of the "aim". :)

Sounds like Real Merch actually has a license if they’re claiming to be an “official” distributor. This press release only states they’re selling what’s already been made. I think the unreleased/new stuff they mention has already been produced, I don’t get the sense they’re making anything new.

Funny that Robinson disagrees, I wonder if Master Replicas was outbid or CBS issued multiple licenses and he’s simply unaware (the press release is from today). Honestly, I’d prefer RealMerch do it, they have fair prices and fast shipping. They also haven’t scammed fans for $650k recently either…

Do you need a license to sell stock that was already manufactured? I'd think you'd only need to make a deal with Paramount for new models, not ones that have been sitting in a warehouse.

Most licenses require royalties paid from a percentage of sales. In Eaglemoss' case, those sales would be to other distributors or directly to the final customer, so no royalties have been paid on the stock held in Eaglemoss' warehouses.

That’s cool. I wonder what the deal is with Real Merch’s statements then. They don’t really seem to jive with established reality.

Yeah, I don’t know. It’s too bad so many of these companies making Trek stuff are sort of sketchy.

RealMerch already seemed to be some kind of Eaglemoss clearance dealer. Even before Eaglemoss went bankrupt they were selling the entire Starship collection and the specials for pretty cheap on eBay. Then, oddly enough, about a two months ago they started selling a bunch of additional Eaglemoss stuff, XLs and Universe, pretty much everything that had been released to date. I’ve ordered a few things from them and never had any issues, so if they say they have something in stock it’s not bs at least.

Ever since I got it, the Terrellian plague ship has been a pain to stay on its stand. The other day, just as a lark, I put it on the stand backwards, with the bubble towards the front, and it fit better. Perhaps whoever designed the stand got confused on the orientation, as they have with a few others, like the Vidiian fighter or the renegade Borg ship.

I know you posted this over a week ago, but the countdown seems to be counting down to 24/02/2023 as it's currently on 15 (days) 15 (hours) and x minutes and x seconds.
