A lot of people on twitter and YouTube were saying that was Deanna at the end saying "we're with you always" but Matalas confirms that's Beverly speaking. https://twitter.com/TerryMatalas/status/1619889700659150848
I am really at a loss about most of modern Trek. Do these producers really think TNG was an action show? I mean - ST09 & DIS already had this same problem - but at least they had a cast young enough to sprint through the scene and throw some punches. There's a reason why movie Kirk was mostly just giving commands, and not wrestling shirtless with bad guys. It's so strange.
Parts of Willow on my TV is unwatchably dark, almost pitch black, unless I turn off the lights in the room.
Personally, I thought the NYCC trailer was better than this one. The week before this final trailer was released, Matalas did say on Twitter that this trailer was harder to put together because they did not want to reveal any plot details. That's why I think it falls into the boom, boom, shoot em up category (although most trailers these days stress the action over the plot). I do agree with the critism about the poor lighting though. That being said, I'm optimistic this will be a good season. I remember when season two was about to come out, Paramount+ only gave screeners for the first three episodes (pretty much the best episodes of the season) before the season opener debuted. This time, they've given the press the first six episodes (in line with what they did with Season 1 of SNW) which suggests they are more confident in the quality of this season.
The show comes out in a couple weeks, shouldn't we be getting some story details from trailers at this point? Kewl explosions, intense dialogue and moody set lighting isn't going to pull everyone in.
I'd definitely say so, and Matalas has been busy enjoying the accolades over on Twitter from the people who got to see the full run of 6 episodes. Its very difficult to judge where the series is going to go from the trailers, which is probably why everyone is so skittish here. Is it going to be the fifth TNG film? Is it season 8 of TNG? A blend of the two? A hot mess like the last two seasons? Who knows, spin the wheel to find out!
That's my thought. This feels like just another teaser trailer. What do Lore and Moriarty have to do with Revenge Lady's plot? Why are we now just seeing another character with an axe to grind with Picard? There isn't even a cursory presentation of the show's plot.
Given the strong rumours as to the identity of Ed Speleer's character, details might be more likely to drive people away than draw them in. It certainly made me even more pessimistic, and I was already unhappy at the treatment of Jurati & Rios and the return of the TNG cast.
I mean, potentially. We don't know yet, nor is a trailer indicative of anything. Out of context clips don't really tell us anything. Save for what people perceive and assume.
Stupid knee-jerk reactions to anything new/different are unfortunate, and I really don't want to be a cynical douche. Which is why it pains me to say that the trailer was remarkably bad. I'm actually astounded by how much it turned me off. It looks just plain dismal. It looks every bit as tired and depressing as Nemesis, if not more so. I just hope that it isn't indicative of the season as a whole.
