Of course it isn't. Hairstyling in film and TV is never accidental. They have a whole department of people they pay to take care of the actors' hair, and they test hairstyles and colors extensively before filming begins.

I guess I could have worded that better but I would think by context of the thread that it would be apparent I meant if there was any doubt to the meaning behind the hair color change.

Thanks for explaining hairstyling though. :p

Sorry, I wasn't directing that at you. I was just bewildered that the Twitter poster would've thought they even had to ask.

I think the problem I often have is that I tend to see this BBS more as a public forum addressing readers in general, and I fail to realize that other people see it more as a personal conversation. So I don't always make it clear enough that I'm not actually addressing the person whose post I'm responding to, just making an observation about its subject.

OK, After 7 episodes, it finally hit me what was off with this show.

The WIllow film is this epic dark fantasy film with a huge budget but the world feels lived in and nasty and like anything could and can kill you. It's the best parts of a dark fairy tale and a serial epic from the 30s.

The WIllow show is the tabletop adventure that this DM came up with from a homebrew game setting and it's a little bit fluffier and nicer and has a bunch of pop culture references cause the players love it and while the names are all there for these places, it's just a Bit Too Fluffy to fit the mold of the original.

I still like the series, but it's lacking that lived in polish and nastiness the first film had. I mean Madmartigan was FILTHY nearly the entire film. When is the last time anyone in this show stayed dirty beyond one scene? Instead of a series, they could have dropped like 3 or 4 set pieces and episodes, a bunch of filler, kept the character bits and cleaned up the action so it's less 'shoot for the edit' and is a bit better choreographed and you'd have gotten a really good film.

ALSO we don't need EVERY character from the film referenced in this. While it was fun to see some of them, it's pure nostalgia. Star Wars Rebels had this issue too. Nearly every episode (not all) where they meet up with someone from the Rebel Alliance that isn't involved in the end of S3 and S4 is basically filler and doesn't really add much. Other than to stall Willow, what did the Brownies really add to that one episode?

I'm still enjoying it, but it's veered away from the source material way too much for me. The names are there but the danger and grit is just... gone.

Zippers? Really? This show has some more than questionable design choices...

    Why can't they have zippers?

Because zippers can only be made with machines. You need industrialisation and machinery to invent and produce zippers. The world of Willow is more than a millenium away from this.

They have magic. You don't need machines when you have magic.

It's on Elora's pockets, can be seen when they're on the boat in the last episode. Mind you, I didn't notice until mentioned somewhere.

It look like a standard jean vest. Was she cold in between shots and forgot to take it off?

Why do we care that in Willow's reality someone invented the zipper?

In episode one they said, they would need a wizard to find Airk, but there were no wizards left. Sorsha said, that she knows the last one, Willow, and sent her daughter for him. So where are those magicians if they are necessary to produce those fancy zippers?

Because it doesn't fit the setting and the world where this story takes place.

It's a fictional world. They have what ever the people creating it say they do. It's not history. They're already over the fashion map with the clothes the characters wear. And it may not be a zipper, just like the zippers in Star Trek aren't zippers. ( And can disappear when needed)

Oh, I don't know about that. All you need is the ability to make a large number of identical metal teeth and attach them to fabric. Blacksmiths have had the ability to cast metal pieces from molds for thousands of years.

And yes, the metal pieces in question are very small and it would require fine, delicate work to manufacture and attach them all, but the solution there is obvious: brownie blacksmiths.

Half of the group we're following are wizards.
Seems Sorsha may not have known what she was talking about.

Well, that was a helluva season finale. Plenty left for a S2 if not more.

I'm guessing that was still the Crone, at the very end?

    Are they union brownies?

Everyone complaining about zippers when their bards sing of microwave ovens, refrigerators and color TVs.
