Hope we're getting more books soon. David Mack's book should be in my mailbox any day now, but that's my first Trek book since the big finale. After buying basically every book as it came out since the late 80s, definitely feels like withdrawal. I miss my monthly (or 2x a month back in the day) fix of Trek Lit, and kinda sad that it's dried up like this. Plus side, lots of Trek on TV/streaming these days (and I get why that's a problem for trying to do interesting things in the Lit world), but still missing it. Give me a 5YM fix every couple months at least, need a maintenance dose! :)

I would really recommend Second Self if you are missing the old timeline. It doesn’t follow the litverse continuity, but it is a Cardassian focused novel that is a spiritual conclusion to Una McCormack’s other novels. Staying as vague as possible but it was really good.

I would be satisfied with a book every month.

So not having played the game, I'm still wondering if the upcoming Prodigy: Supernova middle grade novel is a straight up novelization, or what exactly?

To celebrate the three decades since the fan-favorite TV series debuted, IDW proudly announces the April 2023 launch of STAR TREK: DEEP SPACE NINE — THE DOG OF WAR, a wild new five-issue comic book miniseries bringing back everyone’s favorite space station crew.

THE DOG OF WAR marks the comic book debut of celebrated novelist Mike Chen (Star Wars: Brotherhood, Here and Now and Then), partnered with Star Trek comics artist extraordinaire Angel Hernández (Star Trek: PicardStargazer, Star Trek: DiscoveryAdventures in the 32nd Century) to create a “lost episode” set within the timeline of the original Deep Space Nine show.

In the new miniseries, an extremely rare purebred corgi from Earth makes its way aboard Deep Space 9 when Quark cuts a deal to procure it for a potential buyer. After all, a Ferengi without profit is no Ferengi at all! But the corgi named Latinum comes with unexpected cargo that shakes Captain Benjamin Sisko to the core — a Borg component discovered by a crew sent to uncover Cardassian technology after the station’s reoccupation.

I'm really excited to see Mike Chen writing for Star Trek. His books have such a good vibe to them and when I read A Beginning at the End in particular I thought "this guy needs to write a Star Trek novel." It just felt like it fit so well with everything I love about trek. I usually don't read the comics but I definitely will get this one.

That was already implied in viewscreen graphics in the show, if you looked carefully, and confirmed by the producers in interviews.
