Spoilers Star Trek: Picard General Discussion Thread

707986E6-7AD8-45F2-BB6B-19DDFF9D6BC2.jpeg So we can confirm that this is now the Titan A, not the Enterprise F. Though they could still use this bridge as the Enterprise F bridge with a set redress. :techman:

Another worthless article courtesy of Screen Rant. And inaccurate as well, saying PIC gave it the name OV-165, even though the screenshot of the Enterprise opening credits they have in the article blatantly says OV-165 on the side of the ship.

Up until now, the shuttle never had an in-universe backstory.

Is it just me, or does Jurati Borg Queen seem to be a deep fake last minute addition to Picard season 2? It could just be the makeup though…

I’m rewatching Picard season 2 with some friends, they are not familiar with Star Trek and are finding Picard season 2 hard to understand. Not being familiar with Star Trek and with English not being their first language, they are struggling to understand the story and think that Picard is an actual dictator so I do not think this is a good first impression of the Star Trek universe, though I am trying my best to explain it to them as we go along. I think that they are beginning to get the impression that Star Trek is a dystopian sci-if series, not a hopeful series striving to be a more utopian one, we watched Nemesis last night too which didn’t help things with Picard’s reputation. My friends are not familiar with science fiction/time travel/parallel universes etc. I need to show them some old Star Trek: The Next Generation episodes instead I think so that I can win them over on this show and make some more new international fans. :)

I would say that if watched out of context with the rest of Star Trek, Picard season 2 is not a good introductory series for Star Trek. I think that they are going to try again through for season 3, that looks proper old skool Trek and a good place to jump back onboard. :techman:

Also, my friends have never seen Voyager, so they have no background on the Seven of Nine character. They do not understand why my hero is a violent generic action movie women who was president of a dictatorship on Earth, a women who has no interest in science and does not display any exceptional qualities or inquisitiveness (as she did in the past on Voyager).

If I showed them who Seven of Nine was on Voyager then they would understand why I like Seven of Nine as a character so much. My love of the character is not as a result of her depiction in Picard which is what they thought and could not understand. I just accept that this is how Seven of Nine has been written under Terry Matalas’ authority, he obviously knows best and I am still enjoying the shows under his tenure.

My love of the character Seven of Nine has defaulted on to the same (but different) character as depicted in Picard as a result of someone else’s vision for the character; a character who is now quite different to how she was on Voyager… unrecognizably so. I’m starting to watch Star Trek through the perspective of my friends now, not as a fanboy with decades worth of Star Trek history stored in my head which puts it in to context for me, but not those without that insight. I forget sometimes that other people do not watch Star Trek, so to them it may be out of context when it makes sense to us fans.

No way! It's a terrible introduction to Trek. It relies way to heavily on pretty much all of Trek history to build it's story as you need to know that in order to recognize the dystopian elements as being incorrect. Time travel and such are confusing too, even for some science fiction fans. So, yeah, not sure what was expected...
