I would definitely bet on the Patriots to win the Superbowl the day after Drew Bledsoe got hurt.
I have questions first. What time travel rules apply here?
If it's Odyssey 5 rules, your Super Bowl trick wouldn't work.

How do those rules work?
I'd go into the future and get the lottery numbers for the drawing right before the big jackpots are given away.
Then I would get the evidence that showed OJ did it.
In that series, the crew of a NASA space shuttle witness the destruction of Earth and are sent back in time to prevent the disaster. One of them decides to take advantage of his knowledge of the future and bets on a sporting event where he is sure to know the results. But it doesn't work, and he loses the bet.
So basically it's an "anything goes" type of thing. If you travel back in time, your knowledge of the future is not guaranteed to work. Things might turn out differently.
Actually isn't that kind of realistic?
We don't know for sure that going back in time means events we know will happen the same way do we, I mean we don't know for sure because no one has actually done it.
Probably.
Indeed.
It's the butterfly effect.
If, for example, I travel back in time and try to bet on the results of a past World Series, I may have already affected the course of history without even realizing it. My energence into the past might be enough to tip the balance. Even if I don't do or say anything, my merely being there might be enough.
Near term time travel would be great for disaster warnings. It might be good to use proxies…affect past events so every possibility plays out…harvest the souls at worlds end…go back…destroy one proxy—be an advocate for another group…let that play out.
You have a Dyson Sphere full of souls…record all structures and art on your craft…go back one last time to a history were there were no humans…release your “spirits” there. No need of mining or structures.
The best and brightest minds of each “run” …of each timeline—-you give an android body…then find a lifeless planet and make that live.
OK but would my lotto example work? Move forward to the day the winning numbers are announced pick them and then go back to the present and use those numbers?
If I had time travel I would journey to whatever distant future managed to make clear sense out of Primer.![]()
Say what?
A time travel movie which is less understandable than anything David Lynch has ever made.
And that's saying something.![]()
