That would cause so much backlash.

"Indiana Jones timestream is erased and Helena goes on to recreate all iconic Indiana Jones moments in time."

So John Rhys-Davies is only in odd-numbered installments…

He's generally picky about what he signs up for, so that's a good sign. Then again, the idea that Indy has odd-numbered greats is as much rubbish as even-numbered Treks all being great. (But Indy 2 gets slagged because it's "too serious". Which is a shame, 3 is overrated and needed to be more serious. 1 had it right but the format would have gotten stale sooner... the less said about 4, aka "How to survive a nuke in a fridge while getting leftovers", the better. )

The de-aging technology has come along way since last decade as well.

Got to admit felt a buzz seeing the trailer.

I had the same feeling, but in fairness I was swapping a light bulb and forgot to turn off the light switch beforehand. That said, even I can't deny that the teaser/trailer looks rather decent overall. But I'll wait for early reviews to come in first. If I'm going to get the latest variant of covid in a theater and have severe respiratory problems for up to a couple weeks after or worse, then it'd better be for a good movie and not a bad one... and as I'm not a teenager anymore, going to a theater just to get busy in the back seats is pretty pointless too. Especially as you can get much more than covid in such a romantic spot back there...

The flashback's set in the early 40's, so if younger (and thus old) Indy was killed then, the first three movies would have still already happened regardless. Only Crystal Skull would have been erased - that is, if the rumor had been real.

Bigger this time!

Hmm. I'd say they took a bit of footage from "Force 10 from Naverone". That would be my guess

His face feels like it's moving at a different frame rate than the bag, and the motion blur feels weird.

But that's from staring at a looping gif of the scene, most people may not even notice.

I'm not sure about that 'pickiness' because I recall seeing John Rhys Davies in a few of those low-budget syfy channel original type movies.

Sallah has several of the best lines in Raiders starting at 2:13:
