@Avro Arrow, sorry your guys got on the boat so early - they played way better than anybody thought over here
I seem to be buying less during Black Friday now that it's easier to buy online and those sales are longer.
I'm not entirely sure what you're referring to, but thank you nevertheless. (Oh, do you mean the World Cup?)
Black Friday as a singular shopping day is dead. It was dying in favor of online sales even before COVID, but the pandemic basically drove the last nails in that coffin. No one's going to be waiting in a parking lot at 4 am ever again. LOL.
Clarence Gilyard Jr. of Die Hard, Top Gun, Matlock and Walker, Texas Ranger fame, has passed away at the age of 66.
His role in Die Hard is one of the reasons Alan Rickman took the part. He had called the film quietly progressive and that had appeal to him. According to Rickman: Gruber is stern with his men, but takes a far lighter tone with his young hacker. It's not clear if Gruber respects Theo's intelligence, recognizes he requires a gentler touch, or — most likely — goes easy on Theo because he's the most essential member of the team (only Theo can get the vault open). Gruber puts up with his wisecracks and at one point assures, "It's Christmas, Theo. It's the time of miracles!" in a uniquely cheerful and chummy tone. An aside: Rickman noted in a 2015 interview that Die Hard was progressive for its time and its genre in at least one respect: "Not to get a sledgehammer out to it, but every single Black character in that film is positive and highly intelligent. So, 28 years ago, that's actually quite revolutionary and quietly so." Indeed, Theo, Sgt. Powell (Reginald VelJohnson), Argyle (De'voreaux White), and FBI Special Agent Johnson (Grand L. Bush) are each distinct and formidable. 10 times Alan Rickman was incredible in Die Hard | EW.com
I clicked on a YouTube video and there's a 2 minute, 46 second ad before it with no skip button after however many seconds. Is this something new?
nope but it's rare - what i hate are two ads one after the other or an ad every 90 seconds (at least it feels like it)
While out hiking with the dogs this morning out at the park, my mom and I hear a very very weird, very creepy sound that neither of us could identify. It sounded like some kind of half-animal, half-human scream. There are coyotes, donkeys, and cows out there, but we know them very well, and this sounded absolutely nothing like any of the sounds any of them make. It reminded me the kinds of sounds they have people make midtransformation in movies or tv shows with shapeshifters. When they have them screaming as the transform and it starts human, but then turns into the animal's sound. It seriously freaked out both out, we both stopped in almost perfect unison when we heard it, looked back where the sound came from, and then at each other, and agreed that we didn't what it was, but it really creeped us out.

While I wouldn’t say it’s a new feature, but it’s definitely been increasing a lot on YT in recent months. Trucking annoying, esp if you’re like me and like to run a classic rock or similar playlist as background music while working… Cheers, -CM-
I can't remember if I first mentioned here or in the things that frustrate us all thread, but back on Veteran's Day I ran into a horseback rider who seemed really familiar, but I couldn't figure out why and it was really bugging me. I finally ran into her again today, riding her horse with some other girls, and I asked and she said I didn't seem familiar to her, so apparently it's just me. She does look a little like someone else I know, so that might be all it is.
