They both have interesting accents -- Scots and Liverpudlian, I guess. It's been a while since we've had a London accent in the TARDIS, hasn't it? Since Thirteen and her fam were all Sheffield, and John was Manchester, I think?

Bradley Walsh is from Watford, Hertfordshire, about 15 miles from London.

Other way around. Mancunians and Liverpudlians supposedly dislike each other so I'd be careful in confusing them. ;) Ncuti's accent is beautiful and I've never heard a Rwandan-Scottish accent like it.

I know Wikipedia says she was born in Manchester, but in the interview she called her mother a Scouser, which means Liverpool, doesn't it?

Yep. Craig Charles is an example of a classic scouse accent. There are suburbs of Toronto that are about as far apart as Liverpool and Manchester, though, so it probably isn't too unusual to move back and forth.

Yeah, other than the Beatles, he's pretty much my mental template for it. My thought process watching the video was basically: "What accent is that? Okay, her vowels sound like Dave Lister's, so I guess she's from Liverpool."

i made a comparison of the TARDIS in the background because some people wondered if this is already a new TARDIS prop in the promotion images.
It‘s hard to tell because of the out of focus shot on the right and different lighting.
But I think it‘s still the same TARDIS as Jodie‘s.

Bradley Walsh was also a Corrie regular for a while, even though he sounds like he should be in Eastenders. And Jenna Coleman was in Emmerdale before DW, while Frazer Hines took the opposite route (back when it was called Emmerdale Farm).

Oddly I saw Frazer in Emmerdale Farm long before I saw him any Who with him in. Interestingly in Emmerdale his character was married to Blake's 7's Sally Knyvette

Yes, she does say her mother is a Scouser. Millie's own accent is most definitely Mancunian.

Yeah, other than the Beatles, he's pretty much my mental template for it.

Another notable one would of course be John Bishop.

I don't remember Chibnall's Who having as much pre-promotion. Then again, they are trying to establish their footing with the noise from Tennant's return in the way.

She seems pleasant enough, Ncuti seems like a likable guy but I'm not really getting "Doctor" vibes from him just yet.

Okay, I guess they're similar accents, then.

Which brings me back to my question -- when was the last time a regular in the show had a London accent of one sort or another? Was it Bill?

Another notable one would of course be John Bishop.

Sure, but I've only been aware of him for less than a year, not decades (since it was only a few months ago that I finally saw the "Flux" season), so he's not a go-to comparison in my mind. Note that I didn't even get his character name right -- I said John instead of Dan.

How do you even define "Doctor vibes," though? The whole point is that each one is different. It's a classic example of a character being shaped by the actors who play the role.

Someone in the comments section of the io9 article noted that Millie looks a mix between Billie and Jenna and now I can't unsee it.

I blame the different hair and eyebrow colors thanks to the bleach.

Is that like Ruby Tuesday, but two days early?

So from a blonde actress named Billie playing a companion called Rose to a blonde actress named Millie playing a companion called Ruby. Is the Doctor stuck in a time loop again?

And "for the dads" again as well, I thought the show outgrew that, about "the male gaze"?

There's a photo of him with mustache (with shirt buttoned), which works for me. This bump in the road by bringing back the old model really needs to be more than the hype currently being generated and not just another episode of the Russell Tennant show.

On the plus side, casual fans wouldn't pay too much notice. The hardcore fans must be throwing huge wobblies over the phone door's handle. How long has the current box prop been used for?
