DS9 article in the Guardian

I was literally just coming to this forum to post about this article. You beat me to it. It’s a great read and I’m glad to see that DS9 is not forgotten as it really is worth checking out… I’d recommend season 4 onwards, then if people enjoy it they can watch the ‘prequel’ seasons 1-3. :bolian:

Thanks for sharing. DS9 is such a great and underappreciated show. Like Armin was quoted, its all down to the amazing writing and consistent good acting. No other Star Trek holds up as well as DS9 today and Sisko is the closest spiritual successor to Kirk of any of the subsequent captains. Although TNG will always be the more popular sequel, DS9 will always be the better show because the writing was just on a higher level from the first season and the show never missed a beat.

DS9 is my favorite of the Treks. Even though the new IDW comic series spans multiple Trek franchises, In my mind I’m calling it more DS9-centric since Sisko is the lead. There’s also supposed to be a another comic series called Star Trek Defiant. Loving the DS9 hooks in the new comic franchise offerings. I know they did the relaunch book series years ago, but it would be create if IDW did a DS9 series that gives their version of the time between What You Leave Behind and the new Star Trek Vol 2 series.

I think the choice to set the series on the station was good and what made Deep Space Nine the best Trek ever (even though it also meant it is not really Star Trek). Being set on the station allowed it to explore many issues in depth, and this was what made it so impactful and absorbing.
