I 110% don't want Picard and Bev to have a kid.. That makes him like Kirk.. A pseudo dead beat dad.. I fraking hate the trope of oh.. Here's a child it's yours.. Oops.. Grrr...
There's no way it can't be contrived. Picard spent 14 years in his vineyard doing nothing after the attack on Mars. Why didn't she attack him or cause misery for him then? Why wait until he returns to active duty and has fleets and officers at his disposal? And who Vadic is and why she hates Picard and his crew so much. And talking about wanting revenge against him.
This assumes she was free to do whatever she wished, and that she knew where Picard was. There's no way it can't be contrived. He's a pacifist like Kwai Chang Caine. It's hard not to assume that Worf will follow the old "a pacifist now, but will return to his old ways by the end of the story" trope. I'm fine with it either way.![]()
Another reason why I'm not a fan of Lower Decks. I never understood how all these "homages" were beloved when all they did was casually throw characters from the mainstream shows under the bus (Spock 2 from TAS, and now Sisko). Not to mention even though licensed tie-ins aren't canon, there was a time when they at least tried to line up with the filmed works of the day. Yet this recent LD episode relegating Sisko to a bus overrides the upcoming comic revealing he supposedly returned in 2378.made it canon he noped off to the Celestial Temple and didn't bother returning to his pregnant wife and help raise his next child.
Yeah, IIRC Matalas has said they filmed some scenes for the first episode. IMHO this was absolutely necessary, because even if she's not involved in Season 3 really, they completely invalidate the supposed "lesson" to Picard for Season 2 (that he needs to open himself up to a relationship) if Laris just scuttled off and was never heard from again.
I mean, I feel it's going to be the "women in refrigerators" trope again (although to be fair Trek did this with male character Icheb in Picard Season 1) where Vadic brutally kills Laris to give this newcomer villain a level up in threat credibility and give Picard a reaosn to hate her.Yes Matalas as well as Orla Brady have confirmed Laris is in season 3 but the evidence suggests she's probably only in the first episode or maybe first and last episode (according to her IG, Brady returned to Ireland after the first week or two of S3 filming were completed). Matlas even stated that his favourite Laris scene is in this season.
RMB has stated some of his S3 talks that Laris/Picard appear to be an item in the first episode (though he suggests it's not explicitly stated) but didn't say what the state of that relationship is by the end of the season. I've long suspected with Beverly back, there is no way her relationship with JL isn't going to be the major romantic focus of the season. But yeah, it would invalidate the whole second season (as must of mess as it was) if they didn't acknowledge Laris.
You still don't get how tie-ins work. At all.even though licensed tie-ins aren't canon, there was a time when they at least tried to line up with the filmed works of the day. Yet this recent LD episode relegating Sisko to a bus overrides the upcoming comic revealing he supposedly returned in 2378.
Daniel Davis is still a working actor with his most recent role being a TV guest starring spot from May of this year. Brian Brophy's last acting credit was in 2014. Which is likely a factor in why Davis is coming back but Brophy didn't.Also Brian Brophy must be positively seething with rage that Daniel Davis, of all people, got to come back and he didn't.
I forgot for a while why I was off this board for months. It took one day for someone to remind me. (I made a report on another poster's personal attack that went unaddressed, and left). You still don't get how tie-ins work. At all.
I'm going back to reddit.
The Luna class is still in service but the original Titan wasn’t destroyed according to Terry, just gone through too much shit to stay in service.Since Sovereign class ships are still in service as of Picard Season 2, it's highly unlikely the Enterprise-E was decomissioned. Therefore we have to assume it was destroyed before its time. Considering the early destructions of ships C, D, and now E, Starfleet officers should be shuddering upon being assigned to a ship called Enterprise...
Perhaps the Enterprise-E was at the Utopia Planitia Shipyards for refits when the Synth attack happened and ended up getting severely damaged or destroyed? The Luna class is still in service but the original Titan wasn’t destroyed according to Terry, just gone through too much shit to stay in service.
So it could be the sand for the -E.
