Picking up the pace a bit. Just watched ...But To Connect.

So that was the mid-season cliffhanger, huh?

DSC has always been a mixed bag for me. I liked Season 1 with reservations, thought Season 2 started well and ended in crap and Season 3 I liked, again with reservations.

This season is something else though. It feels like finally everybody is on the same page. It feels like Star Trek.

I said it about the last one but ...But To Connect is a great 45 minutes or so of television. There's proper drama, characters who develop naturally over the season... I can't fault the season so far at all.

I love the Zora stuff so much. That's something new. I like Tarka and I love Kovich. Kovich. What a performance. Who knew David Cronenberg could act and I still think it's absolutely surreal that he's there, but he's there.

Without a doubt, on the strength of the season so far, DSC remains my favourite of the ongoing Trek series we have.

Is this some kind of new visual torture by Contrastian Gul Madred of the Obscurian Order?

"How many letters do you see?"
    "They. Are. Too. Light!"

I can barely make out "USS Federation" and some numbers from the registry. The rest is incomprehensible to my, admittedly bad, eyes.

Can someone who can see it type up the major details, please? I don't care about all the admiral names and stuff like that, just the class name, registry, date and location of launching (if on there), etc.

Jorg put the details in the tweet in my post, and the quote in one in the replies.

I've completed my rewatch of season 4. Starts out strongly but loses momentum in the middle and struggles to hold interest. So many questions, so much I don't think the writers throught through properly. From Tarka beaming up to the president's level and taking over the Federation-wide meeting (imagine the abolute chaos the ability for anyone to do that would create!) to the final meeting with 10-C jumping from the difference between a hive mind and individuals, which they finally grasp, to concepts like love and family which they wouldn't have any reference with which to comprehend. And despite Book's actions costing lives, all he gets is community service.

Oh, and people running through the ship during a crisis when they all have badges that can insta-teleport them where they need to go. And nobody thinking to call Jett when she's missing during a crisis and just all assuming she's taking some "me" time.

Can only evacuate 450,000 people from Earth? What about those infinite spaces between Discovery's decks? Cram 'em all in there.

Oh and that pause-mid-crisis-and-discuss-feelings thing, which peaks in the Tilly/cadets episode because the giant ice monsters thoughtfully halt their deadly approach until group therapy is concluded.

They can do better. They WILL do better.

    I hope they do better.

The middle of S4 lost some of its shine during a rewatch for me too.

It seems 10 episodes is still a long time to keep all the plates spinning.

I don't want fewer than 10 episodes per season though. I wonder if two 5 episode stories per season would work out.

I just finished 407. I couldn't do the binge I wanted to do. My life has changed too much. I've been doing an episode every day or two. I haven't hit the batch of episodes after they leave the Milky Way yet, so re-watching that will be interesting.

I want to see Voyager-J in action during the fifth season. It's like a constant tease they've been dangling in front of us for two seasons. :p

Given what we know of Discovery's mission in season 5 maybe Voyager will go along as a support ship, possibly under the command of Saru.

"From the beginning, the title Discovery was chosen for a reason, because we wanted it to be about each character’s evolution, and their evolution as a family and they’ve gone through so much together."

    Sounds like a human adventure.

Of course Star Trek would never do something like that...

I didn't know Kurtzman's middle name is Hilary. Also didn't know that could be a masculine name.
