Muldaur just turned 84 and hasn't been in the limelight in ages but I wouldn't mind a cameo or even expanded mutliepisode appearance by Katherine Pulaski. She's neither my favorite Starfleet Doctor nor did she deserve the dislike she frequently got for Season 2 of TNG. She got more substance across 22 episodes of TNG than Dr. Crusher arguably did across the other 156.

In recent years, I've really come appreciate Dr. Pulaski in a way I didn't back when I first saw the second season as a kid during reruns in the 90s. I think the character had a lot of potential and it would've been cool to see her friendship with Data progress over the series. It would also kind of be epic to see Crusher and Pulaski actually meet. But my top two "suspects" remain Ro or Shelby (Elizabeth Dennehy follows Matalas on Twitter).

Shelby is a good guess. I like that one more than Ro or Pulaski. And I love Ro, but did not like her ending.

If it is Ro, that’s cool. Let’s just not go down the novel-verse rabbit hole and have her become this super important Starfleet officer that becomes the CO of an important outpost. No way would Starfleet give her a 3rd chance.

The Maquis in essence turned out to be on the right side of history though, so I am not sure it would even count as another chance.

She could scheme and manipulate herself into the position (Trek meets "House of Cards").

24th century Trek has alot of absolutes and they can be very rigid. Do the ends justify the means?

Would Eddington or Cal Hudson have been welcomed back to the fleet with open arms? We don’t know what else Ro might have done. She may have done similar things to Eddington (chemical warfare, attacking Federation ships, etc…) that right or not would be a black eye.

I mean, sure they did look the other way when Sisko attacked the Maquis colony but he had some goodwill there.

Oh sure, anything’s possible. I just find it hard to believe she’d be given yet another chance by Starfleet and promoted to command level on top of that.

I could see her more as a Rios/Seven type character working for good but outside of Starfleet. Perhaps Kira gives her a chance a she becomes a member of the Bajoran Militia.

no because they had different circumstances.

Ro left to join a “terrorist” (by Starfleet designation) outfit.
