I finished watching Ms. Marvel. I binged it over the weekend and well, I didn't really enjoy it. I'm disappointed with myself for not liking it more. The cast, visuals, music, cultural and pop cultural references are all five stars for me as was the story of a teenage girl going through what a lot of teenagers do. But I felt the plot was a bit messy and I lost interest in what was happening early on. Maybe fewer characters and a smaller origin story with more focus on the character of Ms. Marvel would have been more satisfying for me. I found the villains to be convoluted and were the least interesting aspect.

Just watched it and that was so much damn fun to watch. You could really see how much passion and joy every single person put into this production and tried their very best to make the show feel as authentic as possible in presenting the experiences of a young Pakistani-American woman...who just happened to become a superhero.

I love how Iman Vellani's personal experiences paralleled Kamala's. I definitely teared up upon seeing her homemade Ms. Marvel Halloween costume from three years ago and now she's wearing a professionally made costume to play the character on a larger canvas beyond her own imagination.

One thing I hadn't noticed during the show was that AvengerCon took place at Camp Lehigh. I'm sure it was explicit in some way in the actual episode but I simply missed it. Nevertheless, that's a very cool touch.

As in depth this whole episode was about capturing each aspect of the Pakistani-American experience, both in New Jersey and in Pakistan, with particularly everyone involved getting a moment's chance to say their piece, I was struck by how little was mentioned of Damage Control. In fact, they weren't even mentioned until the coverage of the final episode. I think that really highlights the only (in my opinion) real weakness of the show and that demonstrates they really didn't need that element.

I've been watching Ms. Marvel this weekend and I have one more episode to see which I will watch tonight. I've heard a lot of people say this show is awful and that the CGI is bad. While I don't think the show or the CGI are bad, I think a show like this needed to be at least 10 episodes. I feel like a lot of it is really rushed and there isn't breathing room to actually develop what is going on. Each episode is hitting you with new things whether it is the Clandestines or the Red Daggers or the Pakistan/India culture/partition and there is a lot going on. As someone who is not familiar with Ms. Marvel or has read the comic, there are times I feel a little lost. Also, I wonder if I should have watched the 10 Rings movie first. I've actually enjoyed some of the cultural aspects of this show, and the flashback scenes in episode 5 were pretty well done, but that episode should have been an hour. Also, I think the actress is doing such a great job with the role.

I don't think this series is as good as Hawkeye or Loki (Which I have seen, I haven't seen the others yet) but I don't think it's as bad as I've seen many people say.

There's no connection between this show and the Shang-Chi movie. Watching it shouldn't change your understanding of this show at all. (Though I certainly would recommend it as just a fantastically fun movie.)

Some people view the bangle as being an Eternal or Celestial-originated device ala the Ten Rings (cosmic powers and of a similar age). Supposedly, the Ten Rings symbol is seen on the wall of the temple where the Clandestines found the bangle.

That being said, otherwise they are independent. But seeing both allows you to see a potential connection.

I think you have a good point with Ms. Marvel--there was too much for one short season. This is one D+ series that would have benefited from a 10 episode season with time to explore more aspects of the story and maybe even have Kamala have to work on a different case while the main plot was developing. Extra space could have been given between the wedding and the visit to Karachi which would also have given a chance for the Clandestines to escape captivity in a more plausible manner.

I'm hoping they see fit to make a second season after The Marvels is released.

True, but those are unproven fan theories (so far at least, and for the record, even the celestial origin of Shang's Ten Rings themselves is also still a fan theory). They're certainly not important enough to the story to in any way require someone to have seen Shang-Chi or the Eternals before watching this. Even if your desire is to look for potential connections between them, there's still no harm whatsoever in watching this first and the others afterward.

I follow a TV show tracker app and a lot of comments I read made connections to the Bangle and the Ten Rings. That's the only reason I brought it up. I'm ignorant on everything else.

During that episode last night the one question I asked out loud to myself was how did the Clandestines get from the DODC to Pakistan so quickly? That was a minor thing in terms of the series being rushed, but it was a great example.

Yeah, as I said to Caretaker that's all still unconfirmed. It makes sense with the evidence, but it won't actually matter either way until some other project down the line gets around to genuinely confirming it. So it really doesn't matter which one you watch first because it's not a case of the stories being built on top of each other, its just that there is a possible story connection between them that may eventually become clear sometime in the future.

I enjoyed the finale, but I still stand by what I said earlier about this show needing a few more episodes. I appreciated that the finale tried to return the focus back to Jersey, but Giant Kamala didn't look all that great. I still liked the soul of this series, like Kamala and the father sitting outside the window, and everyone standing behind Kamala. Also, the music in this series (And the effects of the credit sequences) were really well done. I'm looking forward to seeing her again. As for the post credit sequence, I was bummed that Carol and Kamala never actually met. I'm really looking forward to that meeting.
