I hope you continue to remain COVID-free, Non Sync. My taste buds are still glitching, somewhat. I didn’t fully lose that, but I can tell my taste is different.
Right now, I’m adding “nausea due to medication” to frustrating things. Apparently, Symbicort does that, and that’s the change I’ve had in 24 hours.

Yeah, I ran into that where I worked a lot. Our handscanners would be working fine, but then they'd update them, and after that they'd be almost impossible to use for a while.
Gummies are made with gelatin, right?

Usually yes, though there a few vegan brands that use carrageenan instead. You might ask at the local health foods store.

What causes a light to not change? Is it just a glitch? Is the detector reading something wrong?

Got stuck at an intersection for one cycle when the light didn't change to green on our turn. It was a busy intersection too. The other three directions got green, just not us. When it came back around, cars started running the red, but then it turned green.

It's so irritating when bullshit rules allow horrible shit to happen, and nothing is done about it.

Yes, definitely. But it's your Supreme Court... maybe if enough Americans get politically active and vote in the midterms, perhaps something can be done about it.

I subscribe to a few YouTube 'First Time Reaction' channels and today I received a message from one of the channels saying that I had won a PS5 as part of their giveaway contest.

I was suspicious because the hosts never mentioned anything about a contest/giveaway to win a PS5.

I went to their YouTube channel and there was a message posted from the hosts saying that their channel had been hacked and all their subscribers got the same message as I did. They weren't running any contest and they weren't giving away a PS5.

Looking through the comments, it appears that it is happening to other YouTube channels as well.

This is actually what I was referring to,

And this is all allowed because horses are "livestock", and I'm not sure if that would be a supreme court, voting issue or more of a issue with the people in charge of all of this stuff.
But there is actually a SAFE ACT that they're passing through Congress that would make it illegal for them to ship horses to be slaughtered.

How busy was it from your direction? Did someone stop short of the line? As there might have been sensors in the road, I've been stuck behind someone at lights before and they have stopped short of the line and you can see where the sensors are in the road to detect traffic and they aren't on them so as far as the traffic light system is concernced there is little to no traffic coming from that direction.

I can't see your video because Facebook, but it seems it involves horses, so probably not the same thing I was thinking.

I was thinking more of the BS rules that allow a panel of unelected officials (Justices) to strip so many people of their hard-won rights and freedoms (the "horrible shit" that happens), and nothing is done about it. So you can see how the phrasing fits both instances, but all those cases involved humans, so no, I guess we weren't talking about the same thing.

Yeah, I follow a horse rescue and every month the woman who runs it goes to a livestock auction and it's always filled with horses who are literal walking skeletons, have broken legs, are very obviously very sick, have massive open wounds, and things like that.
Here's one from the auction she was at a couple weeks ago:

If these were cats or dogs, these people who own them would be almost certainly charged with neglect and animal cruelty, but since their "livestock" nobody does anything about it. So these people can treat the horses like shit, and then once they're tired of them, they can just dump them at the auction and make money off of them. And most of the horses at the auctions will end up being bought by kill buyers who will then ship them to Mexico to be slaughtered.

There's one person on my Facebook feed complaining about the crime problem in his left-leaning city, and while he's not wrong, it's hard to take him seriously when his idea of a safe city is one where the politicians won't do anything about mass shootings because it was "God's will" for all those children to be taken up to heaven.

The problem is, passing anti-gun legislation in the US is like trying to close the barn doors when the horses have already long ago escaped.

(the equine analogy, given the earlier posts, seemed appropriate)

Well, I made it thru my procedure covid free. But I tested positive for it yesterday. So there is that. :(. So far not so bad. The shots were worse. It is more like a bad cold. So hanging in there. My husband is getting better. But right now with the muggy weather we are both feeling pretty out of it.

Here's the thing about right wing rhetoric about crimes in "Left leaning" cities. Almost all cities are left leaning.

And places like Portland only were able to have such a big percentage increase in murders because they started out so low. It isn't even in the top 50. Crime rate isn't about liberal or conservative, it's about poverty rate, access to safe housing and school systems.

St Louis and Baltimore are the ones head and shoulders above the rest, and Memphis is top ten.

It's hilarious seeing people talk about Portland as a crime ridden hell scape when it's well below the national average, despite its homeless problem.

Did I read that right? "God's WIll"

Why don't people who seemingly want unrestircted access to guns just admit that's what they want no matter how many innocent people die for their fetish?

True many factors such as the ones you list factor into crime rates, besides in the USA it doesn't matter how strict one states laws are around guns if people can just go to another state with more lax laws to buy one.

Now correct me if my I'm worng but don't many of the states which lean more towards the GOP have a higher crime rate than those that lean towards the DEM's? With GOP leaning states more likely have to less restricvtive gun laws.

Are we talking about murder rates or violent crime rates? Because if you compare stats between the US and European countries with fewer guns, the violent crime rates aren't any higher in the US, but the murder rates are higher.

I don't think you can pull out gun ownership rates as the single variable in terms of state by state murder rates though. Yes, there's more red states toward the top and more blue states toward the bottom. But the state at the very bottom is New Hampshire, and Idaho is third to last. Texas and Florida are both right around the median. It's pretty clear guns are only one factor, and poverty rates and social infrastructure are larger ones.
