Spoilers She-Hulk: Attorney at Law discussion thread

While I know that's not what's being discussed here, Phase 4 certainly has not been the smoothest running of the MCU, though no one in the production side of things is to blame for that. The biggest and most unique obstacles Phase 4 has faced compared to the others being having a pandemic derail things and having to adjust after the death of a movie's lead actor.

Kate Bishop wasn't infallible. Did you even watch the series?
Phase 4 has not been a train wreck, most of it has been excellent.

I can't agree with that. Sure, I liked a few Phase 4 productions. But most of them have been disappointing to me. In fact, both Phases 3 and 4 have been disappointments for me. Kate Bishop was infallible?

Is Jennifer going to be talking to us?

I'd love to see She-Hulk in her Fantastic Four Uniform.

Yes, she will break the 4th wall, the same as she did in the comics.

Concerning the uniform - never say never but since the FF have not been officially introduced in the MCU yet she can't wear it obviously. Maybe a few years down the line when the FF are established and She Hulk is still around in the MCU.

Who died?

Marvel themselves said this was just Fan Service, especially because they chose Krasinski to play the role since fandom was rooting for him to get the role. The FF movie will come ( is it slated for 2023 or 2024, i forget) but it remains to be seen if Krasinski gets to play him properly ( i would really like it).

I had assumed he would be back, but if that was just fan service, then I could see them going for a younger actor for the actual movie. With it established that at he looks like John Krasinski in his 40s, there's always a chance he could show back up as an older Reed through time travel or more multiverse fun.

Jessica Gao, the show's head writer, talked about why they changed Jen's origin story for the show:

“Well, there are several factors. First, the head honchos at Marvel specifically didn’t want it to be the mob hit,” Gao explained. “It just didn’t feel like it fit with everything. But for me, having watched this Bruce Banner, this Hulk, through all the years and all the different MCU movies, it just felt like we saw him be really tortured by this. This was not a gift. He really saw it as a curse. It forced him to not have any relationships. He spent several years, like really, really tortured by it and not viewing it as a good thing. And it took him that long to get to a place where he can just accept it and learn to live with it. So to me, it didn’t make sense for that guy to then willingly give this curse to somebody that he cares about. His cousin, who he really loves. It just didn’t seem right and true to the character and it didn’t make sense to me. So I didn’t want to do that.”

In the show, without giving too much away, Jen and Bruce are in a car accident and, in the aftermath, Bruce’s blood merges with Jen’s. Gao told us why that specific choice was made.

“From a practical angle, we just needed to be able to start the origin story very quickly,” she said. “I didn’t want to have to spend half an hour setting something up...If you do a mob hit, it’s like, ‘Well, then why? What happened?’ Let’s just get to the meat of everything. And also the nature of making it an accident takes a lot of the pressure off of the guilt that Bruce would feel having given this to Jennifer because, in the show, we really see how she struggles with it and how she also, like him, doesn’t really view it as a gift at first. So I think that would really change their dynamic if he was completely responsible and that he made the choice for her.”
She also teased the post-credits scene for the first episode:

"First and foremost [I'm excited for] the tag at the end of the first episode. You know, we answer a very definitive question in the MCU, and the way that She-Hulk responds – or the way that Jen responds to the answer: I hope that's my lasting legacy in life."
