I hope that if the show gets a fourth season, we get more space exploration. I understand, and agree completely with, the decision to get as as many of the dangling plot threads tied up as they can in the 10 episodes they were given, but with that largely being done, I would love to see more good old-fashioned exploration.
Not that I would want all the political plot threads to lay fallow, but they could let the season breathe a little more.

It wasn't laziness they had no time to do make the other 2 Fed ships that were designed for the sequence. The fleet was allegedly a late decision in production.
They worked their asses off to get what we got there out in time. The VFX was finished a week before airing.
And that was the early days of the pandemic, when the entire world was essentially shutting down.
I'm not criticising tbf - I often think with Trek that it would be more practical to focus on fewer classes of ship as most that we come across seem to be multi-purpose anyway.
It is epic seeing a fleet like in Sacrifice of Angels or in Pic S2 ep 1 and 10 but equally seeing one like in S1 ep 10 works for me also

100% on board with the needs of production and as per my post above I actually think there is more logic to focussing on 2 or 3 classes and producing en mass in universe.

I'm assuming based on your reference to Top Gun Maverick the "Jennifer" you speak of is Jennifer Connelly, but what connection does she have to The Orville? For that matter, is there even anyone involved in The Orville named Jennifer?

I would think the finale has something to do with Ed’s daughter. Thats really the only dangling thread I can think of that they could tie off if it ends up being a series finale. Unless they wanted to bring back the spider people from earlier this season…they did threaten they would be back.
There is also the sandwich. I really hope they pay that off somehow.
Yeah, the only loose end I can think of is Ed's daughter. And the Time Sandwich. And possibly Gordon finding out about the life they took away from him.
I thought they talked to Gordon about that already after they brought him back?
They already told him about that at the end of the episode. He was fine with it, he saw his alt-self as being in the wrong.
Now if somehow he got all the memories from that alt-timeline, he'd probably change his mind.

My only slight disagreement with the author is that SNW, while certainly being influenced by it, is at about the same level as The Orville in terms of overall quality, especially considering it was season 1.
Everything else is pretty spot on IMO.
