Star Trek: Picard’ Season 3 To Have Female Khan-Level Villain---But Who?

I think one of the producers ruled Sela out. I have been speculating since they said this will be a female Trek character we've never seen. I'm going to go out and say either Lursa or B'Etor had a daughter and she's going to seek revenge against Picard or Riker. Your thoughts are welcome who it could be.

Of all the TNG villains they could have selected for Generations, they went with the absolute worst. No more.

 

What if it's Hallie Berry playing the Klingon daughter? After all, the producer said the person is a famous actor known to everyone.

But who could they cast Rowan Atkinson as @cooleddie74 ? Maybe he could play a Q? Trelane?

 

This season just has Insurrection/Nemesis level failure written all over it.

 

Amazed they're citing Khan AGAIN as inspiration for a Trek villain, after it went so well the other 58 times and how well recieved actual Khan was when they brought him back. Oof.

They've said it's not Sela, thank fuck.

They've JUST done Borg Queen and WWE face-turned her.

My guess... someone new. Or Commodore Oh with more utterly ridiculous scenery chewing.

 

As late as the episode where we find out about the pregnancy is in season seven, I'm not sure that a daughter seeking revenge makes sense. Especially since the two die a few weeks later in Star Trek: Generations. The episode "Firstborn" gave no hint that either already had children.

Maybe the female Q from "True Q"?

 

They referenced Kahn for nemesis and the movie stank bad. So they are doing the same here. God help us all. So we are going to get 10 episodes of a mad villian going around causing damage.Sigh.

Maybe it will be s evil clone of Dr Crusher.

 

Kurtzman compared things to “the mind games” Khan played with Kirk. So, it has to be someone who knows Jean-Luc’s mind, like Khan knew Kirk’s. Sir Patrick has also said that things are “personal” in season 3. That kinda means it can’t be some random lady on an anti-Earth rampage or something. There has to be a personal connection to Jean-Luc specifically. Someone loathing him for something he did or did not do who now, after many years, for some reason finally has the means for revenge. Like Khan did when he finally managed to leave the planet Kirk had placed him on.

 

That sounds more likely to me.

I'd love for it to be Ardra, but she doesn't have enough of a personal connection to Picard. She can just do mind games and has a lot of tricks.

 

Ardra was actually the first person I thought of when Kurtzman said all that. She was on my villain list before and is still on it now. Mind games? Check. Personal connection? Check. (I mean she did clearly have a thing for him - who can blame her - and he DID ruin her plans for Ventax II and she ended up in jail there AND he kicked her out of his bedroom etc.) Also, the actress who played the original Ardra is dead (RIP), so they would have had to re-cast her, which fits into the whole “it’s someone who has never been on Trek” thing. And time has moved on, and so has Ardra. Maybe her tricks have evolved. I can see her fooling him by pretending to be someone else with a new version of that nifty transporter trick of hers, etc. Maybe we will all think she’s someone we know who hangs out with him and helps him to uncover whatever it is that’s going on and then at some point boom, transporter effect, plot twist, it’s Ardra.

 

The season is in the can already and I think it'll still be essentially better than tired, tired stinkers like Insurrection and Nemesis (like Season 1 & 2 were), but I do think Star Trek is so, so done with the angry little man (or woman) wanting to get even with the main character or/and Federation years later thing for now (though that boring plot device did not really hurt '09 Trek and Beyond, when they had more going on alongside the stock Khan-lite antagonists).

This is why DSCO's S4 in 10+ years time will probably stand the test of time better than much of SNW and PIC. I want them to "subvert expectations" with a Khan-lite villain getting casually stomped like a ant by a V'Ger/Whale Probe/Q/10C style main antagonist to show how trivial and childish the vengeance seeking baddie was.

And we need more supporting villains like Commodore Oh (and while her plans were thrawted and exposed, she clean got away).

 

They also told us Khan wasn't going to be in "Into Darkness". It's probably going to be Sela.

 

Say what you will about Into Darkness (which I don't mind mostly), Khan wasn't really the main villain and he was used differently, with Section 31 being the "real" villains.

And while Nero and Krall/Edison were not exactly villains for the ages, they had enough gimmicks, charisma, and motivation to go over better than Shinzon. We can expect that.

Insurrection failed because the Ba'ku seemed less worth saving than Soong's android village from S1 of PIC and Nemesis failed because Shinzon, if anything, would be even more vengeful than he already was against Romulans than Picard or the Federation.

 

How does one fan's TrekBBS thread speculation suddenly get treated like the showrunner's final decision has been made?

They didn't say Khan was the inspiration as in it would be a character like Khan, they said a "Khan-level villain" meaning a powerful adversary who is a match for Picard both intellectually and tactically and engages in a battle of both wits and verbal barbs with him.

They also mention that they "CREATED" this villain, so it's not necessarily someone from Picard's past (but may or may not have some connection to it), but could be an entirely new character we've never seen before.

Kurtzman: Terry [Matalas] very taken with the idea of kind of doing the final Next Gen movie. And it was really exciting to approach this from a place of ‘Who would these characters be now, so many years later?’ The kinds of movies that we—obviously Wrath of Khan is a massive touchstone for anybody who loves Star Trek. But I think one of the things that we love most about Wrath of Khan is the mind games between Kirk and Khan and the one-upsmanship. That has been a real North Star for us this season. The villain that we created—we do have a singular villain this season. I won’t say too much other than that she is amazing.​

 

I said "Generations", not Picard S3. I'm simply saying that anything related to Lursa and Betor would be god awful, because they were never the "Khan" villains that the Gen producers thought they were.

 

I still think Sela is the most logical choice, based on the clues they've put out there. Of course, there could be some intentional misdirection too.

Kurtzman also said there's another TNG legacy character outside of the main cast returning that he was sort of surprised the actor was willing to return to the role. That could be the villain, or it could be someone else, like Michelle Forbes' Ro?...

...or maybe Ro Laren is the villain? Huge personal connection to Picard...
