This is where @Timofnine got the shot from. I think. It's not much, but...This is the first I’ve heard of this. Is there a link to this info?
Aw, come on!I won’t post the other shots I got… erm, no need to now… I think? haha![]()
Well, I have a good ‘panoramic shot’ in my collection.Aw, come on!
But since I mentioned Matalas being involved with a follow up to PIC, this is where I got that from @Dukhat :
https://blog.trekcore.com/2022/06/terry-matalas-star-trek-picard-inglorious-treksperts-interview/
And when asked if Matalas had plans to stick around and produce any more content for the Star Trek universe — after Picard signs off for good — the showrunner offered this cryptic response:
“Uhh…. uhh…. [pause] …if this was a printed interview, you’d say, ‘The showrunner smiled devilishly.’
I think, to me, this is a period of time in the ‘Star Trek’ universe I’d love to spend more time in. There’s nothing less than 30 legacy characters across ‘Deep Space Nine,’ ‘Voyager’ and ‘Next Gen’ that you’d love to check in and see — you can’t get to them all in [‘Picard’] Season 3.
We don’t get to Miles O’Brien. I’d love to get to Miles O’Brien! There are people though — I could say one name to you right now that comes back, and [you’d be] like, ‘Oh my god, I want to know what happens!’
You’re going to find out. So I would love nothing more than to stay in the 2401 year to tell more ‘Star Trek’ stories in this universe… so that’s all I will say.”
Well they have to be from season 3 as they have not started filming the new series yet…. Or have they?!I think all of those shots are from season 3. And Matalas’s comments don’t equivocally prove that he’s producing a new show after PIC ends that takes place in the same time period.

They definitely captured the "TNG Movie plus a few decades" look they were going for.Well, I have a good ‘panoramic shot’ in my collection.

This one has the Enterprise blurred out to keep it a secret though.
True, no proof whatsoever. It's still pretty much a guessing game in parts based on vague statements. But the way the Star Trek revival has been going lately, these guesses are very rational and anything but wildly speculative.I think all of those shots are from season 3. A PIC follow up seems closer to reality than the S31 and Starfleet Academy series ATM. Although sooner or later those will happen too probably.
It would not be the same show, the show is about the characters not the ship. The characters would be *totally* different and so would the universe that the two shows existed in. Also, I think a Seven of Nine spin off series would be a different tone to Strange New World’s… it would be a bit more ‘serious’ and Berman era like but with a modern spin… hopefully. And I for one would also rather have a PIC follow-up series rather than those other two options, one of which I’ve never liked the idea of from the start. But they already have a show about the adventures of a crew on a ship named the Enterprise, albeit from a different time period (although the technology really isn’t all that much different.) Why would they need to make essentially the same show?
By deliberately making it a different show. It taking place on or around a starship Enterprise doesn't prevent it from being a political thriller, a drama, cosmic horror, psychological thriller, slice of life... alright some of these are a bit tongue in cheek. But besides the genre, there's many more ways to tell stories than we are used from (at least classic) Star Trek. I'll let others elucidate further, since I'm not too familiar with writing unfortunately, and English isn't my first language. Why would they need to make essentially the same show?

Seven of Nine is my favourite Star Trek character but I have never actually been attracted to her beyond thinking that she is an *amazing* character and actress, despite the studios attempt at dressing her seductively which I think was done to attract more young males to the franchise. Now Hugh on the other hand…it’s a shame that they killed him off in Picard as he would have been a guaranteed cast regular in a Seven of Nine spin off series more than likely. Icheb could have been too. Ah well.
Seven has lost so much over the years:
- Her mum and dad
- Any other family she had back in the Alpha quadrant? Though I’m *sure* she might have had an extended family? Maybe they can show up?
I meant in the Seven of Nine Spin-off. Though if the spin-off is based on the Enterprise then I see no reason why Naomi can’t be part of the crew as a guest appearance/cameo on the Enterprise. It would be a bit like when Pike and the Enterprise were on Season 3 of Discovery in preparation for the launch of a spin-off. ‘Passing the torch’ so to speak.
She has an aunt named Irene in the novelverse (she's one of the few people that Seven permits to call her "Annika").
I would *surely* remember that if it was the case!Pretty sure in a late VOY episode she gets a message from her aunt/gran
Try looking at it this way:If they want to make a new show, I would like the premise of it to be different from the usual ‘crew on a ship.’

I bet the production staff don’t want a Seven of Nine spin off show… that might be why they killed off Hugh and Icheb. The’ll probably kill Seven of Nine off next in last minute reshoots and cast Geneviève Bujold as the Captain of the Enterprise in the new series instead.
Knowing that Seven becomes Captain of the Enterprise would be a spoiler anyway, because it means whoever is the Captain in season three of Picard is likely to be ‘written out’.
