LDS/SNW crossover announced, directed by Frakes!

Where's the fun in that ?
So... you find it fun to watch something you know you're going to hate? Fun for us to listen to you complain about it later?

Hmmm...

This must be some peculiar definition of "fun" of which I was not previously made aware. Anyone else get the memo on that one? Asking for a friend...

Irony.

Despite my intense dislike of LD, it's not a massive time commitment to keep up with SNW which I really do like.

Forgive me if my definition of crossover if off, but haven't there always been crossovers?

1) TNG premiere. Bones.
2) DS9 premiere. Picard and O'Brien.
3) VOY premiere. Quark and Morn.
4) ENT premiere. Zefram Cochrane.
5) DSC premier. Sarek (diff actor).
6) PIC premiere. Duh.
7) LD premiere. NOMAD.
8) PRO premiere. Janeway.
9) SNW premiere. Uhura. Diff actor.

Every premiere has had one. Shatner, Checkov, Scotty & Nimoy in TNG/Reboot films. Sarek & Amanda, too. Pike. And there have been plenty of crossovers in the episodes after the premieres.

1) TOS in TNG. Bones, Spock, Scotty, Sarek.
2) TNG in DS9. O'Brien, Picard, Worf, Keiko, L. Troi, Q.
3) TOS on DS9. Trials and Tribble-ations. Kang, Koloth, Kor. .
4) TNG in ENT. TATV.
5) TOS on VOY. Sulu. Rand. Kang. T'Pau.
6) TOS on ENT. Cochrane. T'Pau.
7) TOS on DISCO. Spock. Pick Mudd. Sarek Amanda. Una. Vina. Talosians? Guardian of Forever.

Egads, there are too many to list.

As a Star Trek fan I am unaware of this fun concept.
It's been mentioned a few times in the franchise. Dr Crusher explained to Data in Generations that dunking Worf into the ocean was "fun." Sisko explained to the Prophets in Emissary that baseball is supposed to be "fun." On Voyager, Seven of Nine once told the Borg children "fun will now commence." So it is definitely a canonical concept, which is of course the only thing that should matter to a Trek fan.

( ;) )
Why have LDS screwups SNW versus DSC?
Since both Lower Decks and SNW are episodic it makes it easier to insert a crossover between those two shows. Disco, being arc-based would have the added complication of where do we fit this amongst our ongoing storyline.

Ah, you see, you forget that this is animated crossing over in to live action, which has never happened before and should therefore be regarded as...suspicious.

As long as fun is canonical. Thank you for clearing that up.

Sisko told Dax that introducing themselves to Kirk and Spock would be "too much fun". And Sisko did it anyway.

Ransom goes back in time to make sure he's the greatest Number One ever by making sure Una never sees the light of day again. But then he falls in love with her and marries her.

It's complicated.
And also assassinates Kennedy.

This is either going to be really good or really bad. and given the goofiness of the Lower Decks Characters I'm not hopeful.
Or, just ok. And give the voice actors opportunities to be on screen.

Is that how he comes back from being dead? :D

If it's a Roger Rabbit type live action/animation mix, I hope it's a special.
If it's LD actors in SNW playing their animated characters, count me in.
