Spoilers 'Obi-Wan Kenobi' series [Spoiler Discussion]

Picked up the concept of essence transfer.

As an adult, the resurrection of Palpatine in canon was as stupid to me as his resurrection in Legends. (As a kid, his first return in the original Dark Empire was pretty cool. DEII and Empires End were and still are dumb though.)

But some like it. Live and let live.

Some elements of the DE comics were beyond cool, and some were beyond campy. It was a classic example (and ROS confirmed it), that some things that can 'work' in comic book stories just won't work on the big screen.

Rogue One and the Vader hallway is that for me. Palpatine's return fusses me little.

Rey's father was a clone of Palpatine that was not force sensitive and thus not useful for Palpatine himself, but he allowed this one to roam free. The clone found someone he loved and had Rey with her. Then Palpatine sensed she was force sensitive and send an assassin to find them. He found the parents and executed them when they refused to tell him anything. Rey was left alone on Jakku for a decade or more.

No clue if Rey's mother had any lineage, though head canon would have her be the daughter of Kenobi's brother whom he barely remembers. Or if Leia's statement to "Ben" is accurate, more like granddaughter to Obi-wan's brother, making Rey a Great-grandniece of Obi-wan Kenobi.

Was this in a novel?

Yeah, there's still no in-universe explanation as to why he has an Inquisitor-style lightsaber hilt in Solo.

I am sort of wondering if Reva will have a run in with Maul. He does have a modified Inquisitor's lightsaber in later years. It be something for her to be the one to lead him out to where the Rebels found him.

I could have sworn that Reva had dumped her Inquisitor lightsaber in the sand, after she had returned Luke to the Lars.

Obi-Wan likely confiscated and then buried or destroyed it.
Sudden wild and unsubstantiated theory: what if he dismantled it, and this is where Luke got the parts to build his sabre? Kind of a twist on the old "Luke used Qui-Gon's kyber crystal" fan theory, and doesn't account for how he got his crystal. probably couldn't have used either of her's since apparently crystals that have been bled, then purified seem to come out white . . . unless they don't. Sample size on that effect is somewhere between 3 & 5 at the moment.

I wouldn't be surprised if the no subtitle comic series covered the creation of Luke's green bladed lightsaber once they go closer to Return of the Jedi.

as I said, that’s not said in the movie. I’m sure it’s in books, comics and whatnot, but not in the movie.

The movie had this dialogue about how Palpatine returned:

AFTAB ACKBAR: It cannot be. The Emperor is dead.
BEAUMONT: Dark science. Cloning. Secrets only the Sith knew.

Edit to add:

As to the inevitable question of whether Beaumont had any idea what he was talking about... the "Rise of Skywalker Visual Dictionary" says he's a(n) historian with a special interest in Jedi and Sith history, and he even visited a number of old Jedi and Sith temple sites to learn more about them. Who knows what strange mysteries may have been described in those inscriptions and artwork, or whatever. Of course, this background on the character isn't mentioned in the movie, so YMMV.

In terms of moviemaking "language," I think it's one of those lines of expository dialogue that we as the audience are meant to accept at face value rather than questioning its veracity or credibility.
