Clayton Kershaw had a perfect game broken up by the first batter he faced in the 8th.
Goddamn my Beloved Angels suck ass this year. Even worse than usual.
Team batting average of .230

It really sucks that we’re going to lose Ohtani. I think Moreno will open his checkbook (he always does) but Ohtani wants to play for a winner.
If/when he leaves, there’s going to be a lot of broken hearts in Anaheim.

Nationals open to trading Juan Soto after he rejects 15 year/$440 million dollar deal with no deferrals.

I think that Rendon contract is going to be a blocker when it comes to re-signing Ohtani.
How long until they fire the interim manager? Phil Nevin seems utterly clueless (and I've had a negative opinion of him ever since he instigated that huge brawl).
This feels like a story that was planted to Rosenthal by the Nationals, a lot of the pieces don't add up. Number one, the lack of deferrals, which is a complete break in Washington's SOP. Beyond that, he's still got two more years of service time before he hits free agency. Why rush to trade him now, when teams will still probably trip over themselves to sell the farm for one and a half years of him next season? Hell, he'd still probably net a top-20 prospect type just as a rental to a competing team.
The Nats have seemed in a really weird rush to figure out the Soto thing as if he were hitting free agency this offseason and, like, they've got until 2025 to figure this shit out.
Edit: Also, I can't imagine the trade market is going to be there for him. Washington will need to find a trade partner that a) is competitive now or at least planning to be competitive before 2025, b) has a top tier farm system with multiple Top-20ish guys to headline and c) is willing to gut that system to get Soto. The Nationals are probably going to ask for at least two MLB-ready players and two top-20 prospects, and they might try to get someone to eat one of their bad money contracts in Corbin or Strasburg, too. Looking at the pipelines, that leaves ... Boston, the Padres, Dodgers, Giants, Yankees? The Mets might meet those criteria but no way does Washington trade Soto within the division.
Blue Jays fire Charlie Montoyo.
The biggest scapegoat in Blue Jays history. He was always going to be Rick Renteria for this team, but I didn't think they were going to cut him midseason. They must have been reading the comments on Sportsnet.ca
Chris Sale is eternally snakebitten. Second start after spending three months on the IL, and he's headed right back after Aaron Hicks hits a 106mph single off his pitching hand. Pretty unfortunate.
Damn, that's some terrible luck.Chris Sale is eternally snakebitten. Second start after spending three months on the IL, and he's headed right back after Aaron Hicks hits a 106mph single off his pitching hand. Pretty unfortunate.
The Astros booked a charter flight for the players and manager going to the All-Star Game. Then they invited lone A's all-star representative Paul Blackburn to join them after finding out the A's were sending him to the All-Star Game on commercial.
