Bad Starship Names

Years ago, when some friends of mine and I were doing a Star Trek role playing game, we named our redshirt non player character Ensign Fodder. :)

No doubt Ensign Fodder was descended from a 20th Century Private G. Cannon-Fodder but the name was simplified over the centuries.

How about the USS My Captain's a Jerk

Then just patrol the Romulan or Klingon border and wait for the fun to begin.
"Sir! There is a ship on our long-range sensors!"
"Can you identify it?"
"Yeah, its.. ummm... just nope. Ain't gonna do it..."

I read a story years ago with a space ship named the Hebe G. B.
From Radio Active?
To explain, Radio Active was an 1980s Radio 4 comedy, based around the idea that a rubbish local Radio station got half an hour on network.
Most episodes featured a pop parody, they were then released as an album: Meaningless Songs in Very High Voices, by the Hee Bee Gee Bees.

An issue is naming ships after battlefields.
"USS Gettysburg, we come in peace."
"Expain the name."
"It's a battle where thousands of people died."
"And you come in peace?"
