They've got touchscreen panels elsewhere on the ship... even though touchscreens are a dated technology from the late 20th century.
I have my issues with the SNW Enterprise (which I never shut up about), but I like the idea that the designers in-universe have intentionally gone for a 60s-70s look to the ship. Their technology has reached the point that they can make the interior look like whatever they want, and they've apparently decided that for this device a row of switches works just fine. I can buy it!

Spock's station is also pretty close to his TOS station and Pike's chair is largely unchanged from the TOS regular series design. If the 1960s aesthetic works keep it.

Probably more than enough to cover a simple communication device within a ship.
Looks fine to me. Worked in TOS and similar switches served admirably in the ENT Era.

I love the more pastel colors of the switches. It's almost perfect TOS but bigger to reflect an earlier timeframe.
By 2259 they may think 21st century being all about touchscreens is adorably quaint.
But then they come back in 30 years. The later TOS movies then TNG+ were all touch screen
So no.
ENT had a combination of bulky switches, toggles, buttons and slide levers with a couple of random touchscreens here and there. DSC and SNW have a mixture of both big physical controls and touchscreens. TOS swerved almost entirely back to buttons, switches and toggles and that lasts until around Star Trek IV, after which Trek becomes almost exclusively flat surface touchscreen controls for well over a century.
Can we just stop with the ridiculous notion that these two images look nothing alike? I mean..... seriously. To 99% of the population, the difference is negligible. To say it looks NOTHING like the TOS version is just being incredibly petty.
