Spoilers 'Obi-Wan Kenobi' series [Spoiler Discussion]

The Reva arc...well, it was there, but in the grand scheme of things, it felt like thie kind of sideline story one would see in the annual of a comic book--not really having any bearing to the main story, but added there "just because".

I don't agree with this at all. The final episode made clear they why of Reva's arc. She's here so Obi-wan, and the audience, can hold up a mirror to Anakin and to reinforce that Vader isn't Obi-wan's fault.

Evil is a choice you make. Anakin made it. And continues to make it. (And will continue to make it, with almost every breath until his last.) Reva, when the chips are finally really down, doesn't make that same choice.

Obi-wan feels such guilt. He's torn up inside because of what happened with his friend. So much of this story is about letting go of that guilt. Of accepting Anakin's agency in his fall.

Once again, Kenobi had Vader at his mercy, and just... let him walk. Knowing what would happen as he did it- that Vader would go on to murder, destroy, oppress, over and over, and nobody else would be able to stop him.

Weakest point in the entire, badly written story.

And apparently the Grand Inquisitor and the captain of the SD didn't put out any patrols to cover the back side of the planet, once again allowing the quarry to fly away free as a bird, so Vader could snarl to the emperor about how 'he won't evade me again!" Uhh, sure he will. Just like he did the last time. And the time before.

This might have made a decent 2.5 hour movie, done properly As a six part miniseries as written, it just stank.

Qui-Gon's Force Ghost was a good capper. "Come on. We've got a ways to go." I can only imagine.

It was nice, but a bit predictable. I wish he had shown up at a slightly more surprising moment. I was hoping he'd appear to help Obi Wan once he was under all those rocks. Oh, well....

Beru is a badass. Bonnie Piesse basically appeared in 2 of 6 episodes and had closeups and dialogue in just one but she hit it out of the park.

After escaping NXIVM, an Inquisitor is small potatoes. Bonnie is awesome.

It also explained how Leia pretended she didn’t know him in the message. Because it’s a secret. :)

That doesn't make sense. The message itself was also a secret, made only for him by her. I don't think the supposed inconsistency in the message is really that big a deal, but the finale hardly "fixes" it.

Rewatch the end of the previous episode. It was pretty well spelled out when Reva found the message from Organa. She figured out he was Vader’s son and wanted vengeance on Vader. It honestly had nothing to do with Obi-Wan.

It was slightly muddy and the finale should have clarified it, but it didn't.

Well, I enjoyed it quite a bit. Got a little dusty in the room during the scene on Alderaan. No, the series wasn’t perfect. Yes, it probably connected too many dots that weren’t needed. Sure, it probably didn’t need to be a series. But I enjoyed the hell out of it. It was nice to see Ewan and Hayden again and add some connective tissues between trilogies. At the end of the day, it was a FUN adventure. Sometimes that’s all you need.

Agree. You can find oodles of continuity issues to nitpick and even the best episodes had on average of 3-5 unbelievably stupid moments.

But, at the end of the day, I found it entertaining, which is sadly more than I can say for a lot of recent SW content. So, ultimately, I'm satisfied.

The audience already knew Anakin's turn was not Obi-Wan's fault simply by watching the PT. There's not many characters in film with a larger "You asked for it" sign flashing on their forehead more than Anakin.

The series did not need Reva as a "mirror" to explain what was clear about Anakin in AOTC & ROTS.

Once again, Kenobi had Vader at his mercy, and just... let him walk.

Oh, that's supposed to be a form of the "mercy" line he would later say to Reva. Really? Well, this series is nothing if not a pile of inconsistent character motivations and perceptions when compared to its "future"--the OT. In the OT, Obi-Wan was of a long-held view that Vader was "Only a master of evil" and "...more machine now than man. Twisted and evil", and Vader was certainly that in the post-ROTS decade, so he (and Yoda) were so sure Vader was the pure, irredeemable embodiment of evil, that their training of Luke was to defeat--not save Vader (who was perfectly content to get his own son to sell his soul until his last-minute act of self-interest).

Knowing what would happen as he did it- that Vader would go on to murder, destroy, oppress, over and over, and nobody else would be able to stop him.

Agreed. Anakin selling his soul to the dark side and his crimes up to the point of this episode was not Obi-Wan's fault, but the series painted him as uncharacteristically shortsighted to think Vader--a man Obi-Wan knows lives for evil and cannot be turned to the light (as he believes throughout the OT) should be left alive.

And apparently the Grand Inquisitor and the captain of the SD didn't put out any patrols to cover the back side of the planet, once again allowing the quarry to fly away free as a bird, so Vader could snarl to the emperor about how 'he won't evade me again!" Uhh, sure he will. Yep, and Vader and the not-so-grand Inquisitors would never have Obi-Wan's scent again--until the Falcon just so happened to be captured by the Death Star.

Indeed. It was yet another Disney-SW production telling a story that did not need unnecessary side plots and characters to explore Kenobi's trials in the decades before Star Wars.

Oh, and the other bit of fanservice dialogue swiping: Luke saying "I'm not afraid," as if that trait--which Luke expresses to Yoda in TESB--needed to be established in his childhood. At least write the same thing in another way. Sheesh.

I need to watch the part again after Vader's mask and helmet is damaged in the fight with Obi-Wan. For a moment, Vader's voice went back and forth between James Earl Jones and Hayden Christensen--but I swore I briefly heard a third voice (perhaps an approximation of Sebastian Shaw's?).

Knowing Vader he left Obi-Wan buried under the rocks on purpose. "Yeah, he might live. But the pain and suffering will all be worth walking away." It's clear that his own physical agony on Mustafar has led him to want to torture Obi-Wan in the way he felt he was left to suffer and gasp for breath.

He likely wasn't remotely surprised Obi-Wan got out and followed him.

Well that was a ticking boxes episode. It might have been less obvious if they had spread out everything that happened here. I liked the Vader Vs Obi Wan fight but the obvious sound stage in this spoiled it for me.

That was a pretty cool last episode. The fight between Obi-Wan and Vader was awesome. I loved the Sidious cameo as well.

I was hoping we would have an appearance from Qui-Gon after we the massive recap of the PT at the beginning of the series, and the scene where Yoda gives Obi-Wan some homework and speak to force ghosts.

I love Leia and her family. How about Star Wars: Alderan? ;)
