DC Movies - To Infinity and Beyond

I think I've already seen that Blue Beetle movie.

I was just thinking how much those photos reminded me of Kamen Riders. It's a high-tech armor with an insect theme and a full-face mask. Although the bit about being permanently bonded by accident to a transforming device is something that was really only done with Kamen Rider Kuuga; the 20th-century Riders were surgically transformed, and most of the 21st-century ones just use removable belts.

That costume looks great. I really hope this new WB guy doesn't actually stop all DC movies that aren't the big franchises, DC has so much potential to do cool stuff with the B-listers, but I bet this movie would have been cancelled along with Wonder Twins if it hadn't been as far along in production as it is.

It's funny, someone pointed out how Venom is the Guyver story as well. Only the Guyver armor is sentient.

Now THAT looks great! Hubby and I both have said we wished they'd do a GL live action movie as good as some of the animated ones.

I'm also loving Jaime's BB look. I like the character a lot and think it could be a real surprise hit, especially with younger people.

I think he's smart enough to understand that the approach he took with Joker wouldn't work with a whole lot of other DC characters. Might be wrong, but I'm not gonna view this as the doom and gloom some people on Twitter are going with. It's also notable that he's been asked to be an advisor, not that he's agreed to be DC's Kevin Feige. In fact, the THR article that's given as a source does mention that Phillips is aware that he's not an expert on the DC universe as a whole, so he does know his limitations.

My guess is, he's going to field the DC properties for ones that can be done on a small to medium budget with an eye towards an older audience.

Here's some potential good news

Veteran studio chief Toby Emmerich was moved on earlier this week, with Zaslav clearly pulling the strings moving forward, and according to TheWrap’s DC insider, Zaslav has instructed his team to “scratch every Superman project in development and start fresh with Cavill.”

Reportedly, Zaslav wants to get a Superman movie off the ground, with Henry Cavill the focal point of any plans to create a shared universe of DC characters beyond that.
