Old enough to vote, go to war, get married, but thats one step too many to able to have a drink when you become an adult.

This is one argument some people are using to argue against lowering the voting age to 16 in Canada.

As it stands for drinking, most provinces' age is 18. One or two others put it at 19.

Thank you for that. It would be nice if everyone shared that mindset.

Perhaps these "whiners" are suffering from an over abundance of selfishness and have a deficiency in empathy amongest other maladies which medical science has yet to cure, or perhaps they are just jerks.

The Queen (or King) these days is more or less a ceremonal head of state, power resides with Parliament. Now if I were to abolish the monarch I would say for example William will be the last monarch and his children are strictly off limits and are to be treated as effectively private citizens as that is what they would become.

Of course there is a "simple" way to abolish the monarchy form a political party and win enough seats in Parliament to pass a bill abolishing the monarchy. But in terms of priorities for Parliament lets see what issues which impact people, I can think of far more important issues such as in no particular order The Economy, Law & Order, Healthcare, Education, Cost of living, Housing shortage, infrastructure, etc...

Wow, is it really that easy for you? I have long thought that the British monarchy should have no place in the Canadian government. (And this isn't exactly fringe thinking here; a survey in April revealed that 51% of Canadians want to abolish the monarchy.) But removing them from our system would require amending the constitution, and doing that would require unanimous consent of both houses of parliament, as well as the legislature of every province. So in other words, nearly impossible, at least at this time. So unfortunately I don't see us moving beyond the monarchy in my lifetime.

What's frustrating me today is the site moving unusually slowly. It takes two to three minutes just to load a page. :(

Idiots driving along in lane 3 on motorways slower than lane 2 is moving.

My internet also seems to be on slower side at times today as well.

(((Timewalker))) - No offense whatsoever intended. Remember, this thread is a ranting thread, so by its very nature it represents personal views.
I agree that without masks it's more comfortable. But I think you will in turn agree that they are necessary.

As I said, being unable to breathe with the mask is usually the case if the mask is worn wrong. I fear that is often the case as only few of us work in labs and hospitals. If I may give advice from the pov of a professional mask-wearer, try this method:
    • unfold the mask completely, so that the wire is straight, particularly in the very middle, where it was previousely bent in half.
    • Put your thumb in the middle of the wire and fold the mask tightly around it, making sure the wire is bent in a round shape, not a pointy roof-like one
    • now bend the rest of the wire a bit to the sides, like wings.
    • Put the mask on and pinch it to the sides of the back of your nose. Mind that the mask sits at the very base of your nose.
This way the mask fits tightly along your cheekbobes and the back of the nose and if you wear glasses they now won't fog up anymore. =)
It sounds paradox, but you can really breathe easier if the mask sits tighter. Please give it a try and see if you find wearing the mask more comfortable now.

If you still have the impression you can't breathe, it might be that the material of the mask is bad (faked certificate or simply a production flaw) or it could be a so far undetected mild claustrophobia. Quite a lot of people have that. After all, the mask feels as if someone put their hand across your face. Nothing to be ashamed of but also nothing we want to have controlling us rather than us controlling it. In that case keep trying and wear the mask for a few moments longer every day. Try to breathe deeply and slowly. It helps calming you down. Also, some distraction will help, needlework or a game perhaps.

    male posters skip this point:
Basically, the mask is like a bra: if it doesn't fit properly, it's a nuissance. If it fits, it's quite a handy invention. It's really just a matter of making it fit perfectly. And while it's more comfortable without, there may come a time where you have to wear it.

I don't like to complain (much) but life is nothing but frustration right now. It seems like nothing goes right. :sigh:
