Things that frustrate us all

I don't have many vices. Diet Dr Pepper is one of em. So I got one from Hardees (Carl's or something like that if you are on the western side of the USA). But they were nice enough to give me something extra at the bottom of the cup. I just noticed something dark underneath the ice when it was empty. carefully emptied out the ice and .. I am not sure if I am glad I did or not. I brought it back to show the manager, and he said, sadly "I guess we have to call the exterminator back again." so.. that's a thing. I might stick with bottles from now on.

I would also suggest changing exterminator companies, if you are having to call them back again that implies you haved to call them out at least once before for a similar problem. But if this an ongoing issue are they taking steps to prevent it, covering the container the ice is stored in when not in use, are cups stored upside down to prevent creatures and other stuff getting in etc... But what do I know about food safety.

I second that! Perhaps it's a premature summer flu (the early virus catches the host).

I'm so sorry that so many things go wrong for you all. It appears to be Murphy-week.
Fortunately, I found a remedy. Or four, actually. Here's quadrouple good luck for everyone:

The current provincial government. Because they're letting most of the remaining mask rules lapse.
How are those of us who rely on public transit to safely visit family/friends in LTC and retirement homes when the mask rules are no longer in effect on public transit? Please don't answer with "get a car" because that's not a helpful answer to such as us.

The scientific director of the provinces COVID science advisory table said today that he didn't agree with lifting the restrictions so soon (while admitting that there's no perfect way to determine when the right time is).

Nobody told me when I got a new phone that if I didn't take specific steps to export my account AUTHENTICATOR APPS WOULD BE HOSED even if data was copied directly from one phone to another.

WTF, anything that uses two factor authentication am I going to need to go to ridiculous lengths to change it now?!

If only. It's Covid. :( I'd love to wring the person's neck who gave it to my mom and I.
oh sh... I hope the two of you get only the mildest possible form. Please keep us updated!
In defense of the infection's source: it has been a characteristic of all corona variants so far that the host is the most infectuous 1-2 days before the first symptoms show. And unfortunately, most self test kits are not sensitive enough to react to a beginning infection. :(

As a delivery driver, the number of people i see with a dog or cat sitting on their lap while driving is incredibly disconcerting. There really ought to be laws against having pets loose in a moving vehicle. Really the only reason you should be taking a pet anywhere is the vet or the park.

Same in the UK, it's covered under Rule 57 of the Highway code.

Rule 57
When in a vehicle make sure dogs or other animals are suitably restrained so they cannot distract you while you are driving or injure you, or themselves, if you stop quickly. A seat belt harness, pet carrier, dog cage or dog guard are ways of restraining animals in cars.

@Avro Arrow @MacLeod

Just checked the Washington State traffic laws website. There's nothing on the books that says a pet must be restrained while the vehicle is in motion. It looks like a law that would bar pets from moving freely about the vehicle died a few times in committee and never made to a full vote of the legislature.

I agree with you on the first part, but not necessarily the second. We've taken our dogs to other places besides the park and the vet, but we've always got them seat belted in.
