More clips from the world premiere (which they didn't release until after I posted the first batch):

Of particular note is that Natalia Dyer mentioned that this season will delve more into the mythology and answer some of the questions while, of course, asking new questions.

David Harbour talks about some important character moments for Hopper and mentions which episodes those will be in. And it's not just his jacket but his whole suit is bedazzled with Stranger Things awesomeness!

Per The Wrap, we now have a better sense of just how long each of the episodes for season four will be:

“The more we were writing, the more we realized we need more time in order for these reveals to land, in order for these storylines to work,” Matt Duffer explained. “Partway through we knew we needed to ask Netflix for nine episodes instead of eight and as we started shooting we realized, Oh these are mega-long episodes.”

While we are forbidden from revealing plot details from Season 4, it seems safe to say that these new episodes are basically feature-length. Each time you sit down to watch “Stranger Things,” you’ll actually be getting a little movie.

“Seven and nine in particular are movies,” Matt Duffer said. “And nine is a long movie.”

When we asked how long, Ross Duffer said (impishly, we might add): “We’re still refining it but we will say that it is over two hours. It’s a big one.”
Hell, yeah! I cannot wait! I'm in the middle of season two of my rewatch but it's becoming increasingly hard to watch only a few episodes at at a time. I was hoping to finish the rewatch right before the first batch of episodes drop but now it looks like I'll be done well before that.

Tie-In Monopoly game spoils some season 4 details which infuriated the Duffer Brothers.

Damn, that really sucks. I would love to have a Stranger Things Monopoly but not if that's happening.

If you really want it, nothing wrong with waiting until the show is over to pick it up (or unwrap it, if you're worried it'll get sold out).

Spoilers have never been that big a deal to me personally, but I grew up having to watch most sci-fi movies on network TV so there was a good chance something had been spoiled between when a film came out and when it finally made the ABC movie of the week (or whatever).

And don't get me started on the comic book adaptation of the ESB coming out about a week earlier than planned.

Sure I could wait but it still would feel icky in supporting it when they spoiled it in the first place. Yeah, yeah, games and toys do this all of the time, but doesn't make it right.

Yeah, I know I'm being ornery about this but it still bugs the hell out of me.

Yeah, that is really aggravating especially with a show like Stranger Things that is very carefully about how much they reveal before it comes out.

The first eight minutes (what, not eleven?!) of the first episode was just released on the official Stranger Things YouTube channel:

I'm debating whether to watch it or not. Only a week to go...

Are they gonna drop all the episodes at once, or at leas the first part of the season, or will it be 1 episode at a time?

Unless it was changed since the last time I checked, they were going to drop the first half of the season next week and the second half in July.

Yup and considering the longer lengths of episodes seven and nine, I'm betting we'll get five episodes next week and the remaining four in July.

My brain says that but my heart screams NOW.

I never really got into Stranger Things. I tried watching the first season and just kind of lost interest a few episodes in. That said, I really like the Season Four teaser with Modine at the lab, so maybe I'll go back and try again. The fact that a good chunk of this season was shot in Albuquerque has me kind of interested too.

I'm almost done with Season Two in my rewatch, at the cliffhanger where
    the demodogs attack the lab.
I'm honestly debating skipping the next episode, knowing it's fairly pointless and probably the worst episode in the series, so I can jump back to the main plot...

On another note, Season One might just be a perfect season of television.

I still don't get why so many people hate "The Lost Sister." I watched it yesterday and I still love it. Did it cut away completely from the main action? Yes, but the previous episode completely cut away from El so it all balances out. And the episode served an important role for El's character growth.

Plus, based on what may happen this season (based on certain clues and hints and teasers leading up to it), it will probably serve a bigger role for the greater mythos.

I watched the 8 minutes, and all I'll say is that's not the answer I expected for that question.

Yeah, I did go ahead and watch it for the reasons you mentioned. It's not bad, but I do still think it's the weakest episode. But, yeah, it's probably going to be touched on again at some point, if not this season then probably in the final season.

Also, that season had an extra episode.

How did other people first watch this series? For me, it appeared on Netflix and I think I may have added it to my watch list, but I didn't watch it until a few months later. Loved the series. But I had no clue it had become a thing until much later as I was living overseas. I remember watching the first few shows and then telling my wife about it and she watched the entire thing. My kids were too young at the time, but I just found out that my family conspired to binge the entire first part of the season next Friday. Incredible how popular this series has become. It is the Star Wars of the modern day.

Something I noticed while I watched the season three episode "The Sauna Test" is how the show remembers that the names Demogorgon, Mind Flayer, etc. are names coined by Dustin and company and not ones that the entities themselves refer to themselves as. While the group confronts Billy in the sauna, he says "he" made me do it and after Will asks him who specifically, Billy doesn't say Mind Flayer but instead talks about a shadow just like how Will did in season two.

I really appreciate that attention to detail if only because it reminds me of how badly Doctor Who has flubbed this twice over in regards to the Silurians and the Sea Devils, terms that The Doctor himself refers to them as (even after he notes in The Sea Devils that the Silurian name is incorrect) but later on they refer to themselves by that name at least in Warriors of the Deep (I can't remember if the Silurians do it in the new series but I'm inclined to think they do).

I hope this is something that is continued in season four in regards to the name Vecna especially since Vecna is a speaking role.

I heard about it before it came out because the trailers immediately pulled me in with the allure of 80s nostalgia...and Winona Ryder. I saw the first season in probably a single day, maybe two, and instantly fell madly in love with it. I've been a rabid fan ever since.
