The Animals That Aren't Dogs or Cats Thread

My son was leaving for work this morning and when he opened the door to the front porch, the door hit a very large snapping turtle. Now, that snapper had to climb 4 steps to get to the porch and why would he want to do that? I didn't think climbing steps was something turtles did. Anyway he moved down to the first step by the time I was awake enough to go look at it. I looked for him again about 3 hours later and he had left the porch and steps entirely and dug himself into the ground between the porch and downspout.

That's pretty crazy, something must have really attracted it's attention for it to go to all that effort.
You gotta be careful with those guys, some of them can do some pretty serious damage if they bite you.

That would be one of the more unique excuses for why you were late.

Todd from Arthur's Acres visited the piglet River at Cornell University this morning. River is there because he's has a leg that had been broken and is now deformed, and infection from the leg being broken.

I narrowly missed two opportunities to talk to people at the stables in the last two days.
Yesterday, a lady was in a pen with one of the horses right by where I take my breaks on bike rides, but she had her back turned, and by the time I got close enough to try to talk to her she walked away without ever seeing me.
And then today, I saw another lady working with a horse out in the front , where I've been stopping and petting the horses, and I was hoping to ask her if it was OK for me to pet them. But I was across the street, and by the time I got over there she had taken the horse back into the main part of the stables.

The girl who runs Furvivors is really torturing me. They've been posting about this mare Dolly, who is absolutely adorable and who they are trying to find a forever home. She's pretty much exactly the kind of horse I'd want if I could have a horse.

Then when I was commenting back and forth with her on one of her posts, she invited me to come out and visit them, which I would love to do, but they're all the way out in Pennsylvania.

So I saw the horses I've been calling Curly and Larry during my bike ride, and the second time I went by on the way home, Curly came and I was petting him for a while. While petting him I was able to get a clearly look under his belly, and all I saw were two little nipples way in the back by his back legs, so that means that Curly is actually Carla. And yes, I did apologize to her for calling her a boy. I'm thinking that also means there's a pretty good chance that Moe is Mary and Larry is Linda. Or would Lois be the female version of Larry?
We also saw the donkeys out at the park during out hike this morning, but they were to far away to get any pictures or videos.
