We all would have gone for it in the previous 4 seasons and 5 specials he did. But the best we got were a few hints thrown in by Steven Moffat in the episodes he wrote during that time. I like your optimism though and hope you're right.
Apologies if anyone saw my deleted post and got excited; it was from someone faking the official Twitter account.
What's even worse is the Bernard Cribbins "official announcement" I posted was also from the fake account.
Wilf is getting another trip in the TARDIS. https://twitter.com/doctorwhotrcom/status/1526257771749986306 I love how the crew guy just shouts "boom" to simulate an explosion.
And her character is called Rose. The plot thickens https://www.doctorwho.tv/news-and-features/yasmin-finney-joins-doctor-who-cast
Now this time it's the real official announcement. You can tell because the BBC website has crashed again. https://twitter.com/bbcdoctorwho/status/1526261204355887105
I can't tell you the number of times over the last twelve years I wanted a scene -- maybe a web video -- of the Doctor (Matt, Peter, or Jodie) visiting Wilf after "The End of Time Part Two," just to let Wilf know that the Doctor was okay, to put an old man's mind at ease. Because I think, deep down, Wilf would feel some guilt over what happened, and he'd have the feeling that he'd killed the best and wisest man he ever knew. And the Doctor needs to tell Wilf that, no, it's okay. Props to RTD for keeping the focus where it really should be right now -- on Jodie and her finale.
On the one hand this is the most excited I've been about Doctor Who in years. On the other hand it's not really good that this is the most excited I've been about Doctor Who in years.
We all got excited and missed the part where the tweet links to the Tennant and Tate article and not an proper official announcement
Gods, yes, that's a wonderful idea. Hopefully we'll get some form of that in this special. I was about to say the same thing, especially in light of how he just said he wanted to keep the spotlight on Jodie. I believe him when he says this is it for official news until October.
Yasmin Finney is mixed-race, possibly playing Donna’s daughter with Lance? The Temple Noble thing could be legit…
In terms of giving Doctor Who a new lease of life raiding the cast of two massive YA hit series is one of the best moves RTD could have made. This photo from February takes on a whole new meaning now.
Forgot to comment on Yasmin Finney's casting. I'm unfamiliar with her work but excited Doctor Who has cast its first trans companion!
