Strange New Worlds - CGI Effects

Who cares what "Trekyards" says about diddly-squat?

I tried to watch one of their yammerfests the other day in pursuit of some info about the Enterprise design. Excruciating babble, filling video time for a few pennies.

Oh, I'm sure they're fanboy talking heads that have won some award from other fanboys or something, and therefore are supposed to be attended to. Nope.

i regret that I have only one 'like' to give that comment, especially since it sums up my feelings perfectly

My only complaint about the VFX so far is in one of the shots when Pike was riding his horse near the windmills. When the vantage point is spinning around, it seemed to me that rate of rotation of the mountain range in the distance did not match up with the rate of rotation of the rolling hills leading off to it.

(For the record, this is around 5:11/54:45)

Low Poly models, Crappy Low Res Textures, Crappy Lighting, Crappy animation, any combination of what I listed.
the models and textures are usually pretty great, actually, it’s the awful lighting that makes them look crappy. And then moving like a videogame from twenty years ago doesn’t help either.

there is also a weird camera effect on the bridge at the end, when Pike is talking.

Amyway…windmills? When they supposedly have matter/antimatter reactors?

I think part of it is the cgi models move too fast. I'm thinking of the Romulan telepresence ship in Enterprise especially. We expect something heavy to move and turn slowly. However, with inertial dampers, perhaps that would be a common uncanny valley effect.

Re: the windmills. Maybe they're historic windmills from the 21st century that they kept around for tourists the way Colonial Williamsburg keeps around an old bakery.
