We Needed More Q In This Season

Of course it doesn't make sense, because that's not what I said. I distinctly said Picard is the focus of the show bearing his name. If you can't wrap your head around that simple idea... oh, forget it. You won't try.
Having Q featured prominently on the season 2 poster also gave us a expectation that he would be a prime focus of the season. Too bad really. A missed opportunity. What little we've seen of Q has been lackluster.

It was almost like the showrunners wanted to bring back Q because he was a fan favorite, then used him as the catalyst to move the crew to 2024, and then didn't know what to do with him.
The only thing I think they missed out on was not showing more of Q's experience losing his powers. I've said it before, but having him pop in and out of scenes still gives the impression of power, which apparently he has little of left, so show its lack. Have him hailing a cab or working in a cafe on a laptop. How about going to a storage facility which would suggest he preplanned a lot of this because he was afraid of the darkened temporal horizon and needed contingency plans. Those are the kinds of things we needed to see, not Rios continuously flirting with some woman he's known for 2 days and we know barely anything about - and don't care either way. Hell, show more of Seven enjoying being fully human instead of just some one-off lines and a shot of her drinking at some gala with exposition from Raffi. I mean, hell, many of these things could have still been done with one or two actors if COVID was a concern, which obviously it was. But give us some damn character development. Or I guess, just have them run around serving the plots. Also, Picard's trauma over his mom's suicide I gotta say just hasn't been paced well and I'm still confused how it fits in with Q's claim he needed atonement and forgiveness. Maybe it's just the cliched idea that fear can hold you back and in this case it caused Picard to ruin chances of peace with the Borg, and in turn within himself. Blah. We get it.

They had too many side stories at once. The suicide of Picards mom didn't fit and was badly done. Did we really need that story after all these years? Especially since it was so badly paced. This show really seems to not understand the original characters or drag them through the mud. I fear the 3rd season will really ruin the rest of the tng crew.

Yeah all the Q scenes this season have been great. It's the only plot point I'm actually interested in. Just what is his deal? I hope they deliver at the end.

To be honest when I first heard the premise of the series and Q telling Picard that he was the very board the game was played on, I imagined Q would be dragging them around time giving them different challenges which would each shine more light on Picard's issues.

No more like 10 minutes...lol
Yeah I was being generous Dar70. Lol. It was disappointing to be sure. What a waste of a talent. I can only guess the studio was too cheap to pay Delancie for more eps or the writers are just idiots. Maybe both.

If a writers write something different to what you expected, why does that make them idiots?

Putting Delancie right in the poster was a bait to tng fans. We expected Q to be a central part of the story and 9 episodes in we get mere minutes if his character and still don't know what hes truly up to. I wouldn't call that genius writing.

I wouldn’t call it bad either. I’d just say you didn’t like it. There’s no need to call anyone an idiot. That’s just rude.

I didn't call anyone specifically an idiot. The writing is definitely idiotic and the way they baited us is idiotic. The rest can be extrapolated. That's just my opinion.

Yes you did:

It’s just a TV show. You didn’t like it. That doesn’t correlate with the creative writing team being idiots. It just means you didn’t like it.

I think both with Disco and Pic, filming around COVID was difficult and problematic. Both season 4 Disco and season 3 Pic will remain odd curiosities from the experience.
