A mod can block it if they want, nearly 24 hours later and no action at all - they must've noticed it by now.
Nothing was done about the use of the term here:
https://www.trekbbs.com/threads/if-...d-captain-chakotayve-gotten-them-home.138975/
Infact no-one even mentioned it, suggesting you're over sensitive on the matter.
If it was racist they’d be straight on it.
The report has been noticed, and discussed by the staff, and it is unanimously not in your favor, but we aren't the ones who make the final decision.
The delay is simply a matter of waiting for
Savage Dragon, the only mod with jurisdiction in this forum, to respond and render judgment, and he may have real life things like spending time with his family or being hard at work or taking a vacation occupying his time at the moment, so don't take his lack of immediate less than 24-hour response to mean that he is ignoring the issue or has ruled in your favor.
Nor does the lack of response to the term on the completely separate Voyager Forum with different mods (who may not even be the same VOY mods as back then) in 2011 where it may not have even been reported or noticed has ZERO bearing on how it will be handled in the DS9 forum by the DS9 mod today, nor does it indicate an inconsistency or hypocrisy of any kind.
On a personal note, but one that doesn't hold any sway on the final decision, it is absolutely 100% a racist statement. What else do you think it means? They're implying that Native Americans have a deceitful habit of giving a gift and then demanding it back, when in fact it was the predominantly white pioneers backed by the federal government who kept "gifting" the Native people smaller and smaller parcels of land farther away from their ancestral homes to live on, and then when gold, silver, oil, buffalo (hunting their main food supply), or whatever were found on those lands, or wagon trains needed a place to settle, the US Army would be sent in to force the Native people off their lands again, in violation of treaty, often accompanied by brutal slaughter or forced marches resulting in countless deaths.
And then to cap it all off, the oppressors flipped the script on their own cruel and deceitful behavior of "rewarding" Native tribes of being forcefully resettled on territories and reservations at gunpoint and then taking even that away when convenient, and made it look like the "Indians" were the ones who had the habit of giving a gift only to demand it back. One last cruel irony.
Now, I can possibly believe you were not aware of the full context when you first said it, but when confronted with the truth of what it means and why people find it offensive, did you apologize? No. Did you learn from your mistake and vow to change or not use it again? No. You doubled down and became even more belligerent and mocking about using it, seeming to enjoy prodding at your fellow posters for pointing out why it offends them (with good reason, on their part).
That's straight up trolling, and calls into question if you really were aware of why the term was offensive and just decided to use it anyway to piss people off, because you enjoy doing that. You've also managed to turn this thread into a half-assed Moderator Actions thread when those are supposed to be dealt with by PM first.
So, to sum up, your post is racist and sucks ass, and don't assume that just because the mod of this forum has real life concerns to deal with that have delayed his response, that that means you have approval for your shitty actions.
ETA: And of course, as I was in the process of typing this up,
Savage Dragon appeared and ninja'd me.
