The NX-01, a constitution class ship, Picard's Stargazer were all in the fleet museum. The original script for "Relics" had it based at Memory Alpha
He did solo command quite a few times during the Dominion War. If you take alone what was on screen then he’d easily qualify for Captain.
Of Pluto if I recall? At least according to one of the books.

But the Defiant wasn't new when we first saw her, she'd been in mothballs at Utopia Planetia for years after the first round of testing.
I agree with all of this, but it's kind of sad that people disagreeing with the mainstream opinion feel the need to justify and defend themselves. This is like the Discovery subforum all over again. The show was pitched as NOT TNG 2.0. That's what made it interesting to me (and a number of others, I'd wager). I had zero problems with the episode in S1 with Riker and Troi. Had no issues with Spiner as Data in S1 either. They were in separate episodes, with story elements germane to the moments they depicted. I don't expect to have my preferences catered to at all times, so I have no issue with the change of focus--at least no issue that extends beyond me. Didn't say anywhere I wouldn't watch it at all (haven't seen anyone who is less than fully enthused about this news make such a claim, frankly). Just as people who are happy with a particular iteration of a franchise have to cope with the fact others are not (I've been on the Yay! side more often than not on many such questions), people have to be ready to do the opposite. And expressing a bit of scepticism or lowered enthusiasm for something because of a new direction does NOT equal "hating it" or "wishing it failed" or any other such overly dramatic and overwrought reaction. It's simply a reflection of one's disappointment (no less or more valid than another's elation).
One thing I won't do is, if I really don't like it at all (unlikely, but possible), come and complain about each episode for not being "what I want". That would be rude (and pointless). I've seen every episode of every series of Trek (much of it multiple times, going back to 1973) except for Prodigy. I watched the first two episodes and gave up. It's not for me. But you won't find any post by me in that forum complaining about it. And while I can only speak for myself, I feel confident the number of people who have expressed a bit disappointment over today's news that will ALSO spend a lot of time "hate watching" and complaining will be quite small.
This thread is full of speculation, pertaining to characters, ships, weapons, storylines etc; I don't see why those with a more negative tinge should be postponed. Those who don't want to see essential elements of S3 could simply avoid it. And if they do wanna see them, those elements can't be as unwanted as they say.
Generally, we could simply postpone all of this nonsense to a point when we actually know the story, how much each actor is involved, what kinds of scenes they have, if and how much the current cast actually is sidelined, etc.
And my simple question is: Why should a TNG character show with a TNG character title have as few TNG characters as possible? Why shouldn't it have more?![]()
I think it would really be cool to see this scene at the very end:
Picard: Geordie, I understand you are leaving for your new assignment as Captain of the USS Challenger.
Geordie: Yes Sir. She’s a Galaxy class and I hope to make you proud. I appreciate all you’ve taught me.
Picard: One last thing before you go… Picard pulls out a phaser and vaporizes a surprised Geordie. Picard then looks at the camera, smiles and says “I‘be been wanting to do that for years!”
Roll the credits.
What?!? You want the last scene to be Picard murdering Geordi and saying he wanted to do it for years? That makes no sense.
We need some shocking humor added at the end. At the very least, it can be an outtake or part of a blooper reel.![]()
If you do the Geordi Challenger route, it would be an opportunity to bring back the Galaxy class. Plus we know there are Sovereigns around -- and Excelsiors so that's 3 Enterprise classes. And surely Online could have put the Odyssey class in the package, just they chose not to use it yet (if you play all your cards at the beginning of Season 2 then all the fun's been had...)I think it would really be cool to see this scene at the very end:
Picard: Geordie, I understand you are leaving for your new assignment as Captain of the USS Challenger.

You'd think they'd have learnt their lesson on killling off legendary characters for shocks now...Two things I absolutely don't want to see in Season 3:
Picard getting killed off
Worf in DIS-makeup

You could argue that, but you’d be wrong.Well, one could argue that Picard already was killed off and is now just a synth.
