Spoilers Season 3 Cast Announcement

I need to see more but honestly? I’m finding this a little difficult to get excited about. The promise from the beginning was Picard would NOT be TNG part 2. I like what they did with Will and Deanna in “Nepenthe” but that was a one off. Plus I’ve really enjoyed the new characters. My guess now is very few will be coming back. And that makes me sad. But, I suppose we’ll wait and see.

That promise was met for the first 2 seasons, and I think initially only really referred to season 1. They didn't want to start the show as a TNG reunion, but wanted to try something different. Different showrunner, years later, and a final opportunity for a reunion they decided to take it.

I get why people might be upset that some of the original Picard cast might not return, but it's important to remember this show is Star Trek PICARD. It was always intended to be his story. And frankly there is something poetic about it ending the series where it all began. Also, as a TNG fan since I was four years old, seeing "my" crew get one final outing (something I've been dying for for 20 years) has me thrilled!

The Enterprise-E would be only what 30 years old? seems kinda soon to christen a new one.
Well, the A only was in service for like 7 years, and while we don't have an exact commission date for the C, the B was in service around 40. One could argue the extensive damage the E suffered in Nemesis shortened her lifespan even with the refit. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE the Sovereign, I just think this is the perfect opportunity to set up the next Enterprise show.

Let me get this out of the way. For all its flaws, I love TNG. It was the first live-action Trek series to premiere when I was able to watch it first run. The memories I have will last a lifetime. As I look around my living room, I have the TNG series and movies on Blu-ray, I have a Locutus of Borg figurine, the Hot Wheels Enterprise-D, the TNG comm badge hanging on my wall.

I’m just not interested in constantly reliving the past. I want to move forward. All of time and space is a huge playground, yet we constantly revisit the same characters over and over again.

We’re becoming the Talosians.

It isn’t that I’m upset, it is just the umpteenth time that CBS has shown a total lack of imagination with the franchise. It is coming to a point where the small universe syndrome is ridiculous.

Burnham growing up with Spock and her mom being who she was are example of small universe syndrome to me. Kirk in SNW as well. Picard reuniting with his former crewmates is not.

It's funny - We don't see most of the TNG cast in seasons 1-2 of Picard and people complain about it and say it's unrealistic they would have no part in Picard's life. It's announced that we will see the entire cast in season 3 and..people complain about it.

I doubt they're going to shove the Picard cast out an airlock.

I didn’t complain about not seeing them, I wasn’t even interested in seeing Riker and Troi. I’ve done TNG, 178 episodes and four movies. I don’t need to do it again.
