Spoilers The Strange New Worlds Starship Thread™

I believe all the ships would have to be scaled up. But would it even happen, visually or in dialogue?
I think the Enterprise E and Voyager should not be re-scaled - we have seen people on the hull, so practically, its best to leave them as is.

Because it makes sense that if you upscale the ship by almost 50% it would ripple going forward, starting with the refit. So this timeline/universes 1701-A is gonna be bigger by roughly 15-18m. So the size of the Excelsior class increases, the Excelsior refit increases on top of that, etc…

No, it only ripples out until everything fits inside the ship properly. The original 1701 was always too small at 947' to fit what we saw properly, hence the gnashing of teeth over the years by everyone who tried. Then the refit gets scaled to that as well. The Excelsior could also use a small bump up to fit stuff properly, but everything after that is fine, no need for further ripples.

I made this last year and never shared it anywhere. I didn't want a longer Excelsior than the Ambassador, so I made them the same length. I also didn't like the idea of the Constitution having a larger saucer than the Excelsior, so I shrank it to 400 meters. That might be why I never shared it anywhere.

In any case, there's definitely room to enlarge the Constitution and Excelsior classes while leaving everything else alone.
I like it a lot, though I wouldn't be concerned about making the Excelsior longer than the Ambassador.

Even at the 600m+ range that some TNG episodes suggest she would still be dwarfed by the Ambassador in terms of volume. Nearly half of the overall length is the shallow fantail and nacelles.

Now lets talk abut how big Voyager would be to fit everything we have seen inside its shuttle bay.....

The greater length of the baseline Excelsior would dovetail nicely with the Obena- and Excelsior II classes, right?

Isn't there also a size discrepancy with the Excelsior?

The ST3 size chart has 466.6 meters. Gary Hutzel during TNG and DS9 used 457.2 meters, and the DS9 Tech manual lists 511.25 meters. Then some estimates based on on screen evidence have it as long as 700m.

Many years ago, I worked out 770m to accommodate TNG ceiling heights. The windows on the model are TINY, on the official sizes theyd be like postage stamps.

I really like this. Its a very believable progression, especially with the new sizes and the Discoprise in the lineup. I'm a TOS purist, but this just plain works - I'm of the mind, that TOS was replaced by the events of First Contact and ENT anyways. Bring on the changes, because this isn't even the same sandbox anymore.

I prefer the "one big happy timeline" interpretation personally, but in most cases it doesn't make any difference to me.

Saw this while watching the 4K trailer for TMP. Using the people as a reference, does the Enterprise seem larger or smaller than the size posted in the chart?

Sorry can't edit the post - https://imgbox.com/YsxFhPo4
That's from the Director's Edition. I believe its CGI, based on old storyboards.

I guess that would also count as a canon example of people in scale to the ship.

Voyager's Scorpion pt 2 has Borg Drones extracted from the airlock, and there is an episode with people on the ship as its landed rebuilding the warp coils.

TNG shows people on the saucer section at one point.

First Contact has the space walk.

Enterprise has Minefield.

TMP: DE has the V'ger walkway scene.

Does seeing the hole in the Enterprise B count as a scale test for that ship?

I may be missing ones, like characters looking out of windows etc.
