Revisiting this because I just had the first episode on today...literally Colm Meaney's first line after cutting away from his character making that speech is, "It's all horse crap."

Oh good. Because that speech hurt.
The context of the speech is that he was making a sales pitch to investors.
Which is exactly what it feels like. Except, a poor speech that, as apparently the character notes, is pure BS. But it still is... a struggle.
I am aware of that. Gene wanted Kirk to be bisexual but in that period of 60is maybe it was not good idea. World was not ready. Not world is ready.
SNW needs to canonize Kirk as person who sexualy and emotionaly likes men and women both.
And now I'm thinking why not put in this story some new aspects. Let's say polygamous relationship, watch this - between Spock, Pike and Kirk. That three of theme are boyfriends in triple relationship. It can be amazing story better than Paul Stamets and Hugh Culber. Maybe it can explain why Kirk was inlove to Spock.
I’m fine with Kirk being Bi and I’m fine with Spock being Bi.
But to involve Kirk and Spock in a romantic way (despite generations of shippers wishing it) totally ruins the story of how their friendship develops over TOS and the movies.

It's that making Kirk Bisexual would rile them up even more. It's fuel to the fire.
It’s right there in the way Shatner plays it. He often gives Spock a glance throughout the show.

Kirk is superman. He beats up supermen.
With metal pipes, from behind and his boots to their faces.
Cyclops has force beams.
