Game The Most Disliked Episode From The Hollywood Reporter's 100 Greatest Star Trek Episodes

I was surprised "Regeneration", Enterprise season two, wasn't on the original list.

I have to admit, when the trailer for the episode came out, I was pissed that the Borg were going to appear on ENTERPRISE. I thought, "VOYAGER already defanged them enough. How else can you screw them up?"

Turns out that they actually made the Borg menacing and threatening again, something I totally didn't expect. It was a tense, good episode. Aside from the radiation treatment that cured Phlox, it really did a better service to the Borg than most of VOYAGER.

Definitely one of the best episodes of season 2 of ENTERPRISE.

One wonders if Sisko was inspired by the existence of Section 31 to think of his plan to bring the Romulans into the war, since it was produced directly before "IN THE PALE MOONLIGHT". And the producers have been pretty keen on keeping events in episodes in order.

Flip flop the two episodes, problem solved.

I'm one of the other two people who love Neelix. He is amazing in the Neelix episodes. Jetrel has some much complex stuff going on. Fair Trade showed that Neelix had managed to massively improve his life but he was still worried. In Once Upon A Time, Neelix is terrified and doesn't handle his fear well at all.

Neelix is great. I never got the hate. Ethan Philips is an absolute gentleman as well.

If he’s written to be annoying at times and he is so, that’s Philips’s triumph. There are also times when he’s funny, honest, brave, kind and highly empathetic.

Even if only four of us think so, Neelix is alright. I find him less annoying than Paris.

I'm surprised that a lot of episodes didn't make it onto the list. The Way of the Warrior, Darmok, Twilight, Message in a Bottle etc.

It seems there was some mandate to represent each of the shows fairly. There are TAS episodes I’d put on there that are absent and way more TNG episodes swapped for some of the ENT entries, but as a slice from all the shows Pre-CBS it just about works.

Going by what's there, my suspicion is that at least some episodes made it onto on the list because they cross-referenced with other episodes. Those would have knocked down more highly regarded episodes.

It’s totally subjective. I’d smack Spock’s Brain in there toward the lower reaches though many many wouldn’t.

Something I love about the Hollywood Reporter's list is that it really has a point of view on the franchise. You can tell it's the work of true fans, and not just writers with an assignment.

Hilariously, in this long list of so many options, we have the same winner we did in 2020 -- not a lot of love for "Home" out there! For me, episode placement is a real problem with that one -- coming after "Storm Front" destroys "Home", as it also ruined the end of the Xindi arc.

Thanks for playing all, I loved this thread! Next game goes up today, hope to see you all there. Off to look at my file of ready-to-go games, I think maybe we'll do a short one next, before another huge one...

I was surprised that Unification wasn't on the list.

Makes sense to me. It's a pretty unspectacular story, at least compared to the competition.

I can't agree. If I'd gotten in in time to vote I may have saved it. It's like the Enterprise version of Family. I'd certainly watch it over a dozen or so of the others most days.
