Sony Spider-Verse discussion thread

That's for them to answer...

Yeah, that's not a game reference. That's probably, as said above, a reference to one of the other movie versions of Spider-Man.

It's literally art from the game with the word murderer sprayed over it.

As I said though, more likely a lazy set designer than anything else.

That's Tobey Maguire's suit. With the word Murderer sprayed over it.
Not the game suit. I played the game.
It may be a skin used for the game. But it's certainly and distinctively Tobey's.

Yeah, I saw two or three different sites all point out that that was artwork from the game.

Here's the original art which just got flipped. Copyright 2018. Captured from PS4 Pro.

Yup. And it's not the game costume. In other words, there is absolutely zero chance these movies take place in a game universe. I'm not convinced it takes place in the Tobey universe either and it's mostly just an easter egg, but even thinking about it logically for a moment... you're saying that the mechanics of unlockable costumes in a video game are present in this movie universe? That they could show a picture of Parker in, say, the Ben Reilly costume and the 2099 costume and that all makes as much sense to you as showing us Tobey's costume? When Morbeus meets this version of Parker, he has 60 costumes to draw from because it's the video game universe and he can switch it up or something to a costume worn by any version of comic or movie Spider-Man?

Just trying to make sure I understand what you're saying by this image proves Morbius can take place in the video game universe.

Or I'm just missing the joke and for that I apologize.

Heard a few spoilers from early reactions

It seems the Spider-Movie connections have been removed or downplayed in the final cut. The Rami poster in the trailer has been removed, and Keaton isn't called Tooms once, and acts a little zanier than he did in Homecoming

I'm assuming they must have done that after No Way Home established their universe as being sperate from the MCU.

Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if the connections weren't so much removed as they were intentionally put into the trailers just to get eyeballs and excitement knowing full well they were never part of the product. Would be far from the first time that a trailer was that intentionally deceptive.
