Spoilers Star Trek: Picard General Discussion Thread

The sheer amount of ultra-nerdy behind-the-scenes stuff they've released for this season has been awesome, but I kinda think they've shot themselves in the foot by not holding off and releasing a coffee table art book.

They're problems he "caused", but I'd say especially in episodes like Tapestry and All Good Things it's ambigous as to how much involvement he has.

But the problems were about learning a lesson, Picard came out of both of those mentioned episodes with a different perspective.

Except if he hadn't shown up nothing would have happened. It was his interference that caused the problem in the first place. Which I'm assuming is the case here too, but I guess we'll see.
Although Guinan's line in the season premiere about aging suggests otherwise, I wouldn't rule out her witnessing old Q's meddling in 2024 firsthand. She then whacks a younger CGI Q who also happens to be around and has no idea why Guinan is attacking him, sparking their feud.

Cool. So it's "for his own good."

Yes.

I mean in both cases it's ambiguous as to how real the threat even is.

Considering Picard started Tapestry dead and then came out alive having learnt a valuable leason about how it's the individual events in our lives who form who we are I'd say Q did him a pretty big solid.

That is if Picard was ever dieing to begin with... or if Q was ever even there.

The only time Q didn't cause a problem that he then helped solve was the Borg. They were on their way. If Q hadn't sent the Enterprise to then early, the Fed would have been easily assimilated. As it is, I do agree that the rest (Tapestry, All Good Things) seem to be Q causing problems that Picard has to fix, with Q nonsensically blaming the problems he caused on Picard.

I don't feel that this is as beneficial as people think that it is. Q is still creating problems and then demanding Picard fix them. Lessons learned are nice and all but that doesn't absolve Q of his responsibility.

I am totally confused here.

Q did nothing until Picard blew up the Stargazer.

Q even comments on why Picard keeps saying he, (Q) did something.

FMPOV, all Q did is save Picard from his decision to die to take out the Queen.

Wha'd I miss?

ETA Not sure if needed but just in case I am erring on side of caution, spoiler tags added.
