I like Raffi and want to see her get more to do in season 2.I liked how she used her detective skills in season one to find out the Romulans were responsible for the Mars attack.I'm curious about the scene from the second Picard season 2 preview with her and Elnor that looks like a dangerous place. No spoilers the new Rios Rogue Elements Raffi has a few scenes talking with Rios and it was a nice suprise to see her in a few small scenes in the book.
Even if Raffi was right, that won't change her son's argument that she prioritized career and military events over her family. Superman can show his son all the times he saved the world from Lex Luthor and Doomsday, but all that will show is that he prioritized being a superhero over being a father. Raffi's son can just say that Raffi should have left the Mars massacre to Picard or other Starfleet high-ups to handle (which they basically did although Raffi was a help), and Superman's son can easily say that Superman should've retired and left superheroics to the rest of the Justice League.
The worst part about a parent who prioritizes their own interests over their kids is that they'll always throw at you "Family comes first" when they feel they aren't getting enough reverence or attention or whatever from the kids. But they don't consider it a two way street. Family doesn't come first when you need them. I know this from experience having had hypocritical parents like that.
Anyway this is all pointless as in all likelihood in Season 2
Raffi will likely be shown a galaxy where the Mars massacre never happened. Whether it improves her relationship with her family or actually make no difference at all remains to be seen.
Thanks for posting this Raffi video that's one my of my favorite scenes using her dective skills with the help of the different Rios holograms to find out what had really happened on the Ibin Majid.
I re-watched "Stardust City Rag" earlier today and I know there are three sides to every story (your side, their side, and the truth), but I just wanted to tell Raffi's son, Gabe, that he can go fuck himself.
Raffi's trying to reach out and he's not even trying to have any of it. I don't think he even tried to see what Raffi's POV was or even tried to see what she was onto even once. Even after the Zhat Vash were exposed and the AI Ban was lifted, it doubt it changed anything between them. Because you have to want things to be better and I don't think he actually does.
Not much this first ep. yet seeing her vindicated and now reinstated is very satisfying.
Now I want to see more of her in action, as commander on the Excelsior. what Picard always believed in her. (that is if they restore any semblance of the time line )
Seem like they'll be playing her as a bit of a mentor to Elnor.
(maybe somewhat surrogate for what she lost with her own son)
For those of us who don't follow the nuances between ships that carefully, besides the obvious Stargazer at center.
Which is Raffi's Excelsior in this line up? Is it the one with bulbous bathtub looking hull, to the left(theirs) of the Stargazer?
Yes I know they all get destroyed, just want for the instant, to imagine her and Elnor on the right ship.
Thanks!

She's a mess, and not very likeable. Funny at times though. But maybe Picard should have treated her better, too. Seven's making a mistake. It won't end well.
i agree. I've seen a lot of bickering couples (or even buddies) on tv, but usually you always see the affection/ love/ friendship/ fun they have with each other shining through. These two are 99% toxic interactions (with Raffi being worse than Seven, for me), I keep wondering if the writers realize that, or do they think those are just two damaged people working through their issues and making it work? Because that's NOT what I see on the screen.

Hey, that's not a hill I need to die on, even though I don't see it. My main point is the relationship is godawful (and that's no fault of the actresses or lack of chemistry).
Raffi has better chemistry with Elnor. If the writers wanted to be really controversial they would make them lovers instead of Commander and Cadet mentor/mentoree. After all older man and younger woman trope has been done to death.... is not that so Agnes?
