What are your controversial Star Trek opinions?

Real describes things that exist. It is an exclusionary term.
I don't see it that way. But that's my perception.
As to this, whether or not you think it should offend has no bearing on the fact that it clearly does. We all have different tolerances.
I guess so. That term has never offended me or any of the people I know IRL.
The term never bothers them, most of us don't care if somebody else uses said term.
Obviously it affects you guys, but that's reality. With enough people out there, you'll find somebody who is offended by __ term.
Doesn't really matter what the term is, somebody will be offended with enough searching.
Calling someone a real fan means there are fake fans out there. Justin Lin is a "real fan" so he is automatically better than Abrams and more deserving. See how it comes across?
I don't think anyone would take issue with the core of your point, which was that someone involved with making Star trek should have a decent knowledge of it.
You can't just handwave it away like that though. We communicate through a text based medium and I consider choosing the correct words to use to be a courtesy when posting. I'm not personally offended by the way you worded your post, but I can put myself in anothers' position and absolutely understand how they might be.
People may have been less riled if you said you think a fan should be onboard the writing team, without the additional 'true', compounded again in a later post when you used 'real'.
Surely you can see how this might be interpreted as implying that some fans are somehow not 'true' or 'real'?
The fact that an otherwise innocent comment you made has caused several pages of internecine conflict should be proof enough. The decent thing would be to drop the bone, apologise for any offence caused and then move on. There's surely a more interesting conversation to be had and this one has gone back and forth enough to the point where it's clear it isn't going anywhere.

All of it. And so many weird variants….one-piece, two piece, short sleeve, collared, wraparound tunics, unique alien variants. Really interesting stuff.

I thought so too, but someone (it may have even been here in the BBS) experimented with photoshop on the TMP uniforms, making them more colorful, and they just looked…..weird to me.
Same. Colour and cut. But I'm a sucker for the road not taken.
I think someone tried it as closer to TOS colors and some worked and some didn't. I think using a three color system again, even if more muted could have helped.
Has anyone ever tried to recolour the TWOK uniforms?
I've seen a couple. When I get on a PC I'll post some links.
