Spoilers Peacemaker - Discussion

That was a great finale. We got an exciting action scene, some nice humor and the revelation about the butterflies' true mission. I like that Judomaster's cryptic "the butterflies are not what you think" line was followed up on. We also got some nice character moments. I really like these characters. I was moved when I thought Hartcourt might die. The JL cameo was so great. I can't believe the show actually did it. It is one thing to make references or jokes but another to actually have them show up, especially to be the butt of a joke. And they got Ezra Miller and Jason Momoa to cameo. Lastly, Adebayo exposing Task Force X to the public was also very interesting and sets up some ideas for Season 2, I think.

When the JL appeared, they were all in silhouette and I thought that would be it.
Then the Peacemaker crew walks past them and we get a close-up silhouettte of Aquaman, and I thought "Hey, they got a really good look-alike of Jason Momoa".
Then his face got lit properly, and I thought "Oh, they went to the trouble of CGIing Momoa's face in, didn't expect that".
And then he started to talk, and I thought "Holy shit!"

Was not expecting that cameo at all, even if they had just remained in shadow. I'm surprised with how much leeway DC has given the show to play within the DCEU.

Overall, pretty good though I think it wasn't quite as strong at the end as the beginning. It will be interesting to see where they go in a second season now that the characters have been more defined and potentially grown a little.

EDIT:
I found this interesting from the Variety aritcle posted above:

Why weren’t Batman and Cyborg in the group?
You know, I don’t know what I can — there are reasons for it, but I’m actually uncertain whether I can say what those reasons are. It might have to do with future stuff.

Well, Ben is done with Batman, and Cyborg might have lawsuits coming……so I wasn’t too shocked.

I left it out of my original post only because I could not find the right way of wording my interpretation of what this means. But you have done a good job.

Also I think this could be read as a sign that there is a future of Henry Cavill as Superman... maybe. The other 3 have announced future films. Even Wonder Woman in the shadows. They could have easily just showed Flash and Aquaman. These are likely characters WB wanted represented for a reason.

Was I the only one that found the Cow to be kind of cute in an odd way?

It evoked a sad (cartoon) baby with its design - big limpid eyes and single tooth in the middle of the jaw. I was 95% convinced, going into the finale, that the mission would pivot to "rescue the cow." But we got Human Torpedo instead.
