Anyone a fan of the old Stargate SG1 show?

I just started watching it today on netflix.

the first pilot debut episode feels like an actual sequel to the movie. Too bad they couldnt bring back James Spader at least

I'm a Stargate SG-1 fan, but not enough of a fan to have gotten around to watching the last seven or so seasons yet. I really do want to get back to it at some point though, it's just that 200+ episodes is a bit of a time investment. Plus I have to pick up Stargate: Atlantis where I left off as well.

I've seen all of Stargate: Universe at least!

I'm a fan. SG-1 on DVD, Atlantis on Blu ray. Never got into any other installments. These days I'll sometimes pick and rewatch episodes, but I don't have any interest in committing to a full rewatch at the expense of finding other TV worth watching.

I've seen a lot of the episodes from all three live-action series but not all of it.
Imho, it became too contrived in later years that Ta'uri became the premier intergalactic power while keeping most people of Earth completely unawares.

Eaglemoss has is releasing ship models, beginning with the Battlestar Daedalus and the Goa'uld Ha'tak. I already have the latter and am really hoping for the Beliskner/Bilisknir, O'Neill and Daniel Jackson classes. The Asgard have been a fantastic creation by the Stargate franchise, and the puppetry still looks okay by contemporary standards.

Wasn't there meant to be a new sequel to the original movie?

You might like it then that from what I understand when they do this new Stargate show Brad Wright is working on I think Earth is finally going to be aware of the Stargate which will be interesting because it means the Stargate world will be more diverged from our own even more and that is kind of interesting.

Big fan. I've seen every episode of every live action series. Stargate Infinity (the animated series) would suck whether it was tied to Stargate or not.

As for Spader, he probably cost too much, or he just wasn't amenable doing to television as he's become lately (He rules on The Blacklist). Still, Michael Shanks is just fine in the role.

Dean Devlin and Roland Emmerich have been talking about that since the mid-2000s, though IIRC the idea was finally put to rest after the Independence Day sequel failed to light the Box Office on fire.

These days, a new TV series set in the same continuity as the other shows with Brad Wright involved is supposedly happening, though even that seems to be in some sort of production hell or something.

You’re in for a fun ride. :)
Don’t forget to watch Atlantis when you get to season 8. Don’t bother with Universe

Disagree on Universe. The show is most certainly trying to invoke the feel of Battlestar Galatica but I found the characters to be interesting and even the young ones are not like you might expect such as in that spoof in the 200 episode of SG-1. It's also fun IMO watching them just trying to survive with little supplies while figuring out new things about this ancient old ship they are flying on.

There was and it never happened. The closest is the book series.

SGU actually becomes quite strong once it hits the second half of season one, and carries that momentum all the way through season two. It's a shame it got canceled, but I understand why. They were trying something different (which is fine) but they veered way too far in the opposite direction and then it took them too long to find the right balance.

I wish SG-1 had ended with "Moebius" and seasons 9 and 10 (which I genuinely enjoyed, but I'm also a big Farscape fan) were spun off into a new show as originally planned. But Sci-Fi wanted their 200 episodes. :sigh:

Atlantis is actually my least favorite of the three. I generally liked the first three seasons, but they started making too many weird choices in season 3 and I wasn't pleased with the changes made then and leading into season 4, so I dropped it.
